Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), a first article (see 4.2) of the casting resin shall meet the requirements of this specification. 3.2 Materials. The casting resin shall consist of an epoxy resin and an amine-ty
18、pe curing agent capable of being fully cured at a temperature not greater than 71.1 Celsius (C). The specific gravity of the casting resin at 23.9OC shall be 1.45 i 0.15. 3.5.3 Shelf life. The shelf life of the epoxy resin and curing agent in unopened containers shall be
24、 not less than one year from date of manufacture when stored at temperature of not more than 27OC. 3.5.4 Fire retardant. The casting resin, when compounded, shall be self-extinguishing or non-flammable. 3.6 Workmanship. The workmanship shall be such as to insure a product The resin shall which is un
25、iform and in conformance with this specification. be free of dirt, foreign material, or other contaminants. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspec
26、tion requirements (examinations and tests) as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government.
27、any of the inspections set forth in this specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to ensure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. The Government reserves the right to perform 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items shall meet all requirements of sections 3
28、 and 5. The inspection set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies
29、 submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling inspection, as part of manufacturing operations, is an acceptable practice to ascertain conformance to requirements, however, this does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indi
30、cated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to accept defective material. 4.2 First article sample. The first article sample shall be prepared using the same methods proposed for the preparation of subsequent production lots of casting resin. First article samples which do not meet all the re
31、quirements of this specification shall be rejected and returned to the contractor. 4.3 Classification of inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. Lot size shall consist of all the epoxy resin and curing agent manufactured at one time, from one batch, forming part of one contract or order, and submitted for acceptance at the sa
35、me time and place. 4.6.2 Sampling. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.21, 1 pint of epoxy resin and 0.125 pint of curing agent from one unit representative of each lot (see 4.6.1) shall be selected at random for quality conformance testing. Each container of epoxy resin and curing agent shall be cons
36、idered as a unit of product. Failure of sample to meet the quality conformance requirements shall be cause for lot rejection. 4.7 Test methods. 4.7.1 Electrical property tests. 4.7.1.1 Dielectric strength. The dielectric strength shall be determined in accordance with ASTM D149. The dielectric stren
37、gth shall be in conformance with section 3.3 (see table I). 4.7.1.2 Volume resistivity. The volume resistivity shall be determined in accordance with ASTM D257. The dielectric constant shall be determined in accordance with ASTM D149. The dielectric constant shall be in conformance with section 3.3 (see table I). 4.7.1.4 Dissipa
39、tion factor. The dissipation factor shall be determined in accordance with ASTM D150. The dissipation factor shall be in conformance with section 3.3 (see table I). 4.7.2 Mechanical property tests. 4.7.2.1 Flexural strenqth. The flexural strength shall be determined in accordance with ASTM D790. The
40、 flexural strength shall be in conformance with section 3.4 (see table II). 4.7.2.2 Izod impact. The impact resistance shall be determined in accordance with ASTM 256. The Izod impact resistance shall be in conformance with section 3.4 (see table II). 4.7.2.3 Hardness. The hardness shall be determin
41、ed in accordance with ASTM D2240. The hardness shall be in conformance with 3.4 (see table II). 4.7.2.4 Coefficient of linear thermal expansion. The coefficient of linear thermal expansion shall be determined in accordance with ASTM D696. The coefficient of linear thermal expansion shall be in confo
42、rmance with 3.4 (see table II). 4.7.2.5 Coefficient of thermal conductivity. The coefficient of thermal conductivity shall be determined in accordance with MIL-1-16923, The coefficient of thermal conductivity shall be in conformance with 3.4 (see table II). * 4.7.2.6 Moisture absorption. 46、l property tests. 4.7.3.1 Viscosity. The initial viscosity shall be determined with a Brookfield Viscosimeter with a number 6 spindle, or equal, rotating at a speed of 20 2 5 revolutions per minute. The temperature of the casting resin during the test shall be at 23 2 3OC. 3.5.1. The viscosity shall
47、 be in conformance with 4.7.3.2 Specific gravity. The specific gravity shall be determined in accordance with ASTM D792. The specific gravity shall be in conformance with 3.5.2. 4.7.3.3 Shelf life. The resin and curing agent shall be tested for conformance with all requirements specified herein afte
48、r completion of the storage period (see 3.5.3). The manufacturers certificate of compliance with shelf life requirements may be accepted during the storage period. 4.7.3.4 Fire retardance. The casting resin shall be self-extinguishing or non-flammable when tested in accordance with ASTM D 2863. used
49、 during this test shall be prepared in accordance with Test Method 2021, Glass panels FED-STD-141. 5. PACKAGING 5.1 Preservation, packaging, and packing. Unless otherwise specified in the purchase order, the epoxy resin may be furnished in tin plate cans or pails with metal lids. The curing agent shall be furnished in glass bottles. The containers shall be non-reactive to the epoxy resin and curing agent. Size of the
