5、 Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers the requirements and tests for a Radar Set AN/VPS-ZA, hereafter referred to as the radar. The radar is used in the Gun, Anti-Aircraft, Artillery, Self-propelled 20MM, M163A2, and Towed 20MM, M167A2. The radar is a coherent, X-band radar, which

6、measures target range and uses the doppler principle to detect the target and remove clutter interference. The radar set measures target distance along the line of sight as range and continuously supplies this data to the fire control processor (FCP). The radar is comprised of six major units. The a

7、ntenna (Unit i) consists of the reflection and feed assembly, traverse and elevation servo drive assemblies, and waveguide traverse and elevation rotary joints. (Unit 2) generates the high power transmit pulse for radiation by the antenna and picks up the target echoes and sends them to the receiver

8、. The receiver (Unit 3) receives the target echoes from the receiver-transmitter and sends them to the range computer. The range computer (Unit 4) generates range and range rate digital data from the receiver siqnals and supplies this information to the fire The receiver-transmitter 5 AMSC N/A Bc 12
