16、been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Guide samples. Samples, when furnished, are solely for guidance and information to the contractor (see 6.3). appear in the sample, in which case the document shall govern. The basic material shall be white polyester-cotton cloth conforming to type II of MIL-C-44270. 3.3.2 Interlining fusible. The fusible material for interlining the

20、3 Thread. The thread for seaming, stitching and buttonholes shall be White AH, C.A. 66050, cotton-covered or polyester-covered polyester, ticket Nos. 50, 2 or 3 ply, and 70, 2 ply, conforming to MIL-T-43548. Spun polyester thread, ticket Nos. 50, 3 ply, and 70, 2 ply, conforming to MIL-T-43624 may b

21、e substituted for the cotton-covered polyester thread. 3.3.4 Labels. Each smock shall have an identification label and instruction label or a combination identification and instruction label, and a size label conforming to type VI of DDD-L-20. DDD-L-20 shall apply. The fastness to laundering require

22、ments of 3.3.4.1 Identification label. The identification label shall conform to class 1. 3.3.4.2 Size label. The size label for the smock shall conform to class 2. 3.3.4.3 Instruction label. The instruction labelshall conform to class 3. and shall contain the following information: Was hing Instruc

23、tions Machine Wash (close slide fastener) warm water (10O0F) and mild laundry detergent. Use only 2/3 regular load. Use commercial fabric softener to whiten and prevent clinging. Tumble dry using “Permanent Press“ cycle (do not overload) and remove immediately from dryer. If automatic dryer is not a

24、vailable, shape and hang to air dry. If needed, touch up any wrinkled areas with a cool-warm iron. Use “Permanent Press“ cycle. Wash separately from colored garments using Hand Wash detergent. The identification (class 1) and instru

26、ction (class 3) labels may be combined into one label and shall conform to class 15. 3.3.5 Buttons. The buttons shall be type II, class DI style 20/21, 2O-line, conforming to V-B-871 and the color shall be white. 3.4 Design. The smock shall be coat length with short sleeves; yoked shoulders, six but

27、ton closure, and notched lapel collar and shall have one breast pocket and two lower pockets. G. 3.5 Patterns. Standard patterns will be supplied by the Government. The standard patterns provide a seam allowance of 1/2 inch for safety stitch seams; patterns shall not be altered in any way and are to

28、 be used only as a guide for cutting contractors working patterns. The working patterns shall be identical to the standard patterns. In the safety stitched construction, the 1/2 inch seam allowances shall be maintained even though the finished seam allowance may measure from 3/8 to 7/16 inch. - 3/8

The type of seam, stitching, and stitches per inch shall be as specified in table II. Seam allowances shall be maintained with seams sewn so that no raw e

43、 Automatic stitching. Automatic machines may be used to perform any of the required stitch patterns provided the requirements for the stitch pattern, stitches per inch, and size and type of thread are met and at least three or more tying, overlapping, or back stitches are used to secure the ends of

44、the stitching. 3.7.1.6 Thread ends. All thread ends shall be trimmed to a length of not more than 1/4 inch unless otherwise specified. 3.8 Pressinq. All pressing specified in table II shall be done with a heated pressing iron or machine (see 6.6). 3.9 Manufacturing operations requirements. The smock
