Nothing in this Specification, however, shall supersede applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article
29、. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the contractor shall furnish semitrailers which shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 4.4). First article inspection samples, properly marked with identifying information shall be representative of the unit to be furnished to the Government. All
30、subsequent semitrailers delivered to the Government shall conform to these samples in all of their pertinent physical and performance attributes. 3.2 Life cycle operation. The reliability and maintainability requirements shall be demonstrated over the life cycle operations of the semitrailer when op

The semitrailer shall be capable of I transporting the rated payload without permanent deformation to the frame or gooseneck, while operating at the terrain profile specified in table I, with the
34、 load distribution specified in table II. The semitrailer shall be suitable for the concentrated, pin point and localized stresses caused by trucks, track pads and wheels, and any other normally distributed loads on the platform caused by the full range of intended use specified in Appendix A. Maxim

36、ronmental conditions. The semitrailer shall be operational after a 24 hour (hr) cold soak in ambient temperature ranging from minus (-) 25 degrees Fahrenheit (OF) to plus (i-) 120F, capable of operating in hot, humid tropical environments and dry, dusty conditions, and capable of being stored for ex
37、tended periods in temperatures ranging from -28 to +16OoF without damage. . 3.2.3 Reliability. The reliability of the semitrailer shall have a design goal requirement of 6,000 mean miles between failure (MMBF) as specified in 3.2. semitrailer prevents operations, reduces performance below essential
38、levels, indicates that further operation would be unsafe, or indicates that further operations might result in extensive damage to the equipment. Any of these conditions that cannot be corrected by the crew in 1 hr using basic issue items (BII) that are carried on the truck-tractor or the semitraile

40、rame reliability. The frame reliability shall have a design requirement of 150,000 mi average frame life which may be demonstrated by analytical calculations. 3.2.4 Maintainability. The total maintenance time, excluding driver and crew checks and services shall not exceed 8 manhours during 6,000 mi

Material used in the manufacture of the vehicle shall be * new and of highest commercial quality as normally used for this type of equipment, considering strength, durability, ductility, best engineering practice and the p
43、urpose for which the equipment is to be used; and shall be as specified, where applicable. 3.3.1 Recycled, virgin, and reclaimed materials. There are no requirements for the exclusive use of virgin materials. The use of recycled or reclaimed (recovered) materials is acceptable provided that all othe
44、r requirments of this specification are met (see 6.3.1). 3.3.2 Dissimilar metals. Dissimilar metals shall be electrically insulated from one another to minimize or prevent galvanic corrosion. 3.4 Design and construction. The semitrailer, lowbed shall be a tactical support mobility vehicle with a pay
45、load rated at 80,000 lb capacity and shall have a folding gooseneck which shall be operated by a winch and cable from the truck-tractor. designed to permit one-man operation for loading and unloading various types of construction equipment.
