REQUIREMENTS o 3.1 First article. When specified in,the contract or purchase order, a sample shall be su

25、bjected to first article inspection (see 4.3, 6.2, and 6.3). 3.2 Materials and components. (See 6.5) 3.2.1 Cloth, duck, cotton. The cotton cloth used for the tent shall conform to MIL-C-43627, and the color shall be Olive Drab 7. ?- 3.2.2 Cloth, coated. Cloth used for the tent and frame cover and fo

26、r roof reinforcement panels shall conform to type II, class 1, Olive Drab 7 of MIL-C-10799. 3.2.3 Cloth, polyester. The polyester cloth used for the light ports shall be water repellent, shade natural, and shall conform to the following requirements when tested as specified in 4.4.1.1: a. Physical p

The webbing shall conform to type IIB,

31、 class 4, 1-inch width of MIL-W-530 and shall be Olive Drab 7. the webbing shall be polypropylene conforming to type IIb, class 4, Olive Drab 7 of MIL-W-44049. Alternatively, 3.2.6 Thread, polyester. The thread shall be type I, class 1, sub-class B, dyed to match shade S-1 (Cable No. 66022) of V-T-2

32、85. The dyed thread shall show fastness to weathering equal to or better than a standard shade sample (see 6.4). If no standard shade sample is available, the dyed thread shall show good fastness to weathering. Thread sizes shall be as follows: a. For all stitching except bartacking, stitching on co

33、ver, and stitching indicated by “Z“ on the drawings, use size F for needle and bobbin. be For all stitching on cover, use size FF for needle and bobbin. c. For stitching indicated by “Z“ on the drawings, use size F for needle and size E for looper. d. For bartacking, use size E. 3.2.7 Grommets, meta

34、llic. Rolled rim grommets with spur washers shall conform to type III, class 3, sizes 2 and 4 of MIL-G-16491. * 3.2.8 Fasteners, slide, interlocking. Slide fasteners shall conform to type III, style 1, with wire stirrup pull on each side, conforming to size H of V-F-106. Slide fastener chains and sl

35、iders shall be fabricated of brass. Alternatively, the slide fastener chain shall be polyester continuous monofilament in a ladder or coil type configuration, conforming to requirements in 3.2.8.1. Color of the chain, slider, pull, and stops shall approximately match the tape color. 3.2.8.1 Length.

36、The length of slide fastener chains shall be such that, after the slide fastener is sewed on, the tape shall not be puckered and the slider shall operate freely. 3.2.8.2 Tape. Slide fastener tape shal be dyed to match Olive Drab S (Cable No. 66519) and shall be water-repellent and mildew-resistant t

37、reated. The color of the tape after treatment will be considered acceptable. The tape shall show good fastness to weathering. 3.2.9 Fastener tape, hook and pile. Nylon hook-and-pile fastener tapes shall be dyed to match Olive Green 106 and shall conform to type II, 1-inch and %inch widths of MIL-F-2

Tent-lay rope used in the securing lug shall conform to type I, class 2, 1/4-inch diameter of MIL-R-1670. Alternatively, tent-lay rope

39、 shall conform to polyester rope of 1/4-inch diameter of MIL-R-30500, and the color shall be Olive Drab 7. * 3.2.11 Lines, tent. The tent lines shall conform to class A of MIL-L-1709 or polyester rope conforming to MIL-R-30500, in the following types: I - Footstep XV - Reefing line XXVIII - Guy line

40、 3.2.12 Slips, tent line. Tent line slips shall conform to type II of MIL-S-173 4. 3.2.13 Clip, end, strap. End clips shall conform to type I, class 1 or 2, size 1 inch of MIL-C-496. 3.2.14 Buckle, tongueless. Buckles shall conform to type ZV, class 3 of MIL -B-5 4 3. 3.2.15 Fastener, snap. The snap

41、 fastener on the pocket of the cover shall consist of the following components:. button, conforming to MS 27980-1B; socket, conforming to MS 27980-6B; stud, conforming to MS 27980-7B; and eyelet, conforming to MS 27980-8B. 3.2.16 Eyelet tab, plastic. Plastic eyelet tabs for 1/4-turn stud fasteners s

42、hall be acrylic-nitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) (see 6.8a) conforming to ABS 5-2-2 of ASTM D 1788 in l/l6-inch thick sheet form. The material shall be Olive Drab 7 (or other dark color). Plastic tees and elbows shall be fabricated from reinforced fiberglass epoxy res

The corrosion-resistant hexagon head cap screw shall conform to MS 35307-121; the steel hexagon nut shall conform to MS 51967-14; the cadmium plated steel washer shall conform to MS 27183-19; and the corrosion-resistant slotted truss head (or

Vinyl ink, color black with compatible thinner, for marking on coated fabric cover shall conform to Code No. 1A 26.17 of the Atlas Coatings Corp., or equivalent. 3.3 Construction. The construction shall conform to Drawings 5-4-1103 through 5-4-1105 and 5-4-1116 through 5-4-11

48、38 and as specified herein. 3.3.1 Stitchinn. machine. 3.3.1.1 Types of stitching. Stitching types shall conform to PED-STD-751 as follows: a. For all stitching except bartacking and stitching indicated by “Z“ For stitching indicated by “Z“ on drawings, use type 401, 5 to on drawings, use type 301, 5

49、 to 7 stitches per inch. b. 7 stitches per inch. on outside of tent or cover. Chain portion of stitching shall not appear C. For bartacking, use 7/8-inch bartack, plus or minus 1/16-inch long, with 1/8-inch bight and containtng 42 stitches. 3.3.1.2 Thread breaks. Thread breaks in stitching shall be overstitched not less than 1 inch at each break on stitch type 301 and not less than - 1 1/2 inches at each break
