This specification covers the quality assurance provisions and special requirements not covered by the drawings for one type of warhead designated as Warhead, 2.75 Inch Rocket Illuminating Flare, M257. 2. 14、 contracting activity.) 2.1.3 Order of precedence. In the event of a conflict between the text of this specification and the references cited herein (except for associated detail specifications, specification sheets or MS standards), the text of this specification shall take precedence. Nothing in t
15、his specification, however, shall supersede applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Material. Materials shall be in accordance with the applicable drawings and specifications. 3.2 Components and assemblies. The components and assemblies shal
16、l comply with al1 requirements specified on Drawing 9332220 and associated drawings and with all requirements specified in applicable specifications and standards. 3.3 Metal and plastic defects. All of the components prior to painting or chemical treatment shall be free of surface imperfections on t
17、he interior and exterior surfaces of the part which are indications of discontinuities internal to the material. (Included are cracks, lube bursts, pipes, laminations, segregations, porosity, air holes, flakes, inclusions, and other in.terna1 defects.) 3.4 Ballistic test. - The completely assembled
18、round (warhead either with MK40 motor or MK66 motor) shall be ballistically tested to comply with the following requirements: 3.4.1 Function time. The time between rocket motor ignition and flare candle ignition shall be 13.5 + 2.0 seconds with MK40 motor and 13 + 2.0 seconds with MK66 motor. 3 Lice

The burning flare shall descend on the parachute for a minimum of 90.0 seconds, after ignition and before ground contact. 3.4.3 Flare burn time. The flare candle shall burn for a minim
20、um of 100 seconds. Burn time upon ground impact may be included. 3.5 Illumination. The flare candle shall produce an average light output of 1 million candle power or a minimum of 95 seconds. 3.6 Rough handlinq. The warhead shall withstand rough handling when tested as specified in 4.5.2 and shall b
21、e safe to handle, fire, and dispose of. Warheads that are suitable to fire shall be assembled to rocket motors which have not been subjected to rough handling environments prior to firing. Firing of warheads shall be for informational purposes only. 3.7 Tempoature. The warhead shall withstand exposu
22、re to a storage temperature of +14OoF + 5OF, -25OF + 5O, and 70OF t 5OF for 8 hours minimum-and shall comply with the ballistic test as specified in 4.5.13. 3.8 Secured carqo vibration. The warhead shall withstand exposure to secured cargo vibration as specified in 4.5.3 and shall comply with the ba
23、llistic test as specified in 4.5.13. 3.9 - Helicopter vibration. The warhead shall withstand exposure to helicopter vibration as specified in 4.5.4 and shall comply with the ballistic test as specified in 4.5.13. subjected to and must withstand the Forty-foot Drop Test as specified in MIL-STD-331. 3
24、.10 Warhead forty-foot drop test. The warhead shall be 3.11 Warhead leak test. The warhead shall not leak when subjected to the leakage test as specified in 4.5.6. 3.12 Radiographic quality. X-rays shall be taken in accordance with MIL-STD-453 and shall be OE a quality which will permit proper evalu
25、ation as determined by the responsible technical agency of the Government. Minimum optical density of each radiograph in the area being inspected shall not be less than 1.25 and shall be within a density range that will permit proper identification of defects. 3.13 - Functional straiqhtnee. Each war
26、head when attached to a dummy rocket motor shall be capable of passing through a gage 50.100 + 0.25 inches long, 2.7952 + .O020 inches in diameter, and straight within .O020 inches total. 4 Licensed by Information Handling ServicesMIL -w- 6 3 3 7 7 ( AR) 3.14 Gas generator non-f unction test. The ga
27、s generator shall not function when a static extraction force of 20 pounds is - applied to the sear. . 3.15 Gas generator and expulsion charqe function test. The gas generator shall function and ignite the expulsion charge when tested as specified in this specification. The requirement for time dela
28、y is indicated on dwg. 9332277 3.16 M442 Fuze. All M442 fuzes shall have been subjected to and pass all the requirements of MIL-F-70673(AR). 3.17 Iqniter assembly function test. The armed igniter assembly shall function upon application of force of 50 pounds minimum and 75 pounds maximum upon the ca
29、ble. The boron-pellets shall be fully consumed. 3.18 Ziq-zag setback mechanism assembly non-arming test. The zig-zag setback mechanism assembly shall remain in the non-armed and safe condition after being subjected to an acceleration force of sixteen (16) gs plus or minus .5 gs for a duration of thr
30、ee (3) seconds min. 3.19 Zig-zaq setback mechanism assembly arminq test. The zig-zag setback mechanism assembly shall arm when subjected to an acceleration force of twenty-two (22) gs plus or minus .5 4s for a duration of one (1) second maximim. 3.20 Ziq-zaq setback mechanism assembly reset capabili
31、ty test. The setback weight shall be capable of returning to the unarmed position on its-own after it has been partially-armed. 3.21 First article inspection. This specification contains technical provisions for first article inspection. Requirements for thesubmission of first article samples by the
32、 contractor shall be as specified in the contract. 3.22 Workmanship. The components and assemblies shall be fabricated and finished in a thorough, workmanlike manner. They shall be free of burrs, sharp edges, unblended radii, dirt, grease, rust, corrosion products and other foreign matter. The 5 Lic

Surface coatings shall be continuous except for a few slight scratches not exposing base material. All required markings shall be
34、neat and legible. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for - inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor may u
35、se his own or any other facilities suitable for performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure.
36、 supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements Unless otherwise specified herein or in the contract, the provisions of MIL-A-48078 shall apply and are made a part of this specification. 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items must meet all requirements of-sections 3 and 5. The insp
37、ection set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of assuring that al1 products +or supplies submitted to t
38、he Government for acceptance comply with ail requirements of the contract. Sampling in quality conformance does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to acceptance of defective material. 4.2 -I Classification of inspection
39、s. The following types of inspection shall be conducted on this item: a. First Article Inspection b. Quality Conformance Inspection 4.3 First article inspection. 4.3.1 Submission. The contractor shall submit a first article sample as designated by the Contracting Officer for evaluation in accordame
