26、rd, spe-cifically the MERV 8 through 11 overlap issue and the needfor each range to be consistent with the lower limits of theother ranges. These inconsistencies have been a source oflegitimate confusion and have been used to abet the knownoccasional intentional misuse of the data. It is our sincere

27、belief that these steps are critical in the further use of thestandard and its data product. Further and substantialchanges in the MERV concept are under consideration nowand should compliment these proposed changes.Note: In this addendum, changes to the current standardare indicated in the text by

28、underlining (for additions) andstrikethrough (for deletions) unless the instructions specifi-cally mention some other means of indicating the changes.12. MINIMUM EFFICIENCY REPORTING VALUE(MERV) FOR AIR CLEANERS12.2 The minimum final resistance for an air cleaner shall bein accordance with Table 12-

29、1, except that the final resistanceshall always be the same as or greater than twice the initialresistance.12.3 The minimum efficiency reporting value in the specifiedsize ranges and final resistance for reporting purposes shall bein accordance with Table 12-1. Air cleaners with MERV1 toMERV4 (i.e.,

The range efficien-cies are calculated as follows:The average efficiency in Range 3 is in the 80% to -below the85% range minimum shown in Table 12-1 for theMERV Group 109-12 category.
