13、e used for making test pieces for the determination of water absorption then a release film is to be used between the foam film adhesive and the backing material. 5.2 The test pieces shall be in the form of a square 50 mm in length by 50 mm in width by the thickness of the material. 5.3 The dimensio
14、ns shall be measured to an accuracy of 2 0,2 mm. Note : The thickness of the test piece shall be considered the average of four corner-measurements taken. The cut edges shall be made smooth by finishing with sand-paper or emery cloth or by routering. 5.5 The number of test pieces per test configuration shall be 3. 6 C
16、onditioning 6.1 Weigh the test pieces individully (weight Mli = original weight: all weight measurements in mg). 6.2 The test pieces shall be conditioned for 24 h in an oven at a temperature of (110 + 3) OC, cooled in a desiccator and immediately reweighed (weight M2i = conditioned weight). 7 Test p
17、rocedure 7.1 This standard describes two test procedures for determination of the water absorption of foam film adhesives. 7.2 14 days immersion Completely immerse the test pieces in a container of distilled water maintained at a temperature of (25 + 3)OC. At the end of the 14 days immersion, remove
18、 the test pieces from the warer, dip thein in absolute alcohol, dry them for on minute in an oven at a temperature of (50 5 3)C, cool them in a desiccator an immediately reweigh (weight M = wet weight), 7.3 14 days humidity Expose the test pieces in a humidity cabinet for 14 days to air of (50 + 3)G
19、 and controlled relative humidity of 95% - 100%. At the end of the 14 day exposure, remove the test pieces from the humidity cabinet, cool them in desiccator and immediately reweigh (weight M = wet weight). 7.4 Reconditioning 3i 31 Recondition the immersion or humidity exposed test pieces as per par
20、agraph 6,i then cool them in a desiccator and immediately reweigh (weight l4 reconditioned weight). 41 Note 1 : If the reconditioned weight is lower than the conditioned weight, tt difference shall be considered as water soluble matter lost during the test. I this case the water absorption value sha
21、ll be the sum of the weight increas during the test and the weight of the water soluble matter (see paragraphs 8. and 8.7). Note 2 : If the reconditioned weight is not lower than the conditioned weight then the foam material is to be considered having no water soluble matter. COPYRIGHT Association E
