19、 by any technique listed in Annex F giving the characteristics defined in Annex A which apply to fasteners: type I: with chromic finish as per MIL-DTL-5541, type I, class 1A and a cetyl alcohol lubricant as per EN 6117; type II: with finish without hexavalent chromium.as per MIL-DTL-5541, type II, c

20、lass 1A and a cetyl alcohol lubricant as per EN 6117. 5 Qualification and batch acceptance 5.1 Qualification of processes Before being used, all aluminium base protection processes must pass the qualification tests (list in Annex D, sampling in Annex E) which serve to check that all the requirements

21、 of this specification are met. For this, the user must request delivery of the test specimens protected by this process. If possible, these test specimens must be: 6,35 mm (1/4“) diameter for bolts; 4,8 mm diameter for rivets; dash number length equal to or greater than twice the diameter for bolts

22、; in compliance (except for protection) to American specifications (NAS, MS) if possible. The test specimens subjected to the qualification procedure are representative of a production process. Consequently, the user must be notified in writing of any future changes after the qualification concernin

23、g the composition of a deposit and the application method (process sheet, installation) and if necessary, certain characteristics shall be checked in compliance with this specification. NOTE The user reserves the right to perform qualification tests other than those given in this specification to co

24、ver specific utilization conditions of items so protected. 5.2 Qualification of suppliers Independent from the process qualification tests, all suppliers shall be subjected to qualification tests (list in Annex D, sampling in Annex E) intended to prove that they are capable of performing the protect

25、ion process requested with the required quality. Orders can only be placed with qualified suppliers. 5.3 Batch acceptance at the suppliers Each batch of fasteners manufactured shall be subject to acceptance tests by the supplier before delivery (list in Annex D, sampling in Annex E). The results of

26、these tests must be given on the acceptance report. NOTE A batch is defined as a set of fasteners of similar type, form and dimensions, protected at same time or protected consecutively, without opening of the machine vacuum chamber between two loads. 6 List of qualified processes Process qualificat

27、ion is declared when all requirements of Annex A are met. The list of processes qualified at present is given in Annex F. prEN 6118:2016 (E) 6 Annex A(normative) Table A.1 (1 of 2) Requirements Test methods and acceptance criteria Appearance Coating smooth and uniform, without imperfections such as

28、bare spots, porosities, blow holes, etc. Visual Thickness 4 to 12 micrometers specified thickness required on all visible surfaces except for recesses and safety holes. the thickness shall be obtained with a single coat. NASM 1312, Test 12 Adherence of protection Protection must adhere to the base m

29、etal, before and after wet aging in oven (98 % relative humidity) for 750 hours at 40 C. Adherence test as per ISO 2819: Cross cut test using a square pattern of 1mm step scribed through the protection and a 3M n250 adhesive tape Requirement : 100 % adherence Resistance to fluids The protected faste

30、ners must be free from damage and loss of adherence when exposed to the following products : Immersion of fasteners or protected parts : fuels hydraulic fluids JP 1- HYJET IV or equivalent for 42 days at 70 C in fuels and hydraulic fluids solvents Trichlorethane 111, Baltane or equivalent for 24 hou

31、rs at 20 C in solvents and strippers strippers Without phenols SPCA Paintex 7098 or equivalent de-icing fluid With phenols: Ardrox 2526 or equivalent for 7 days at 20 C in de-icing fluid Square pattern test as per ISO 2819 Requirement : 100 % Paint adherence Paints must adhere perfectly to an alumin

32、ium alloy block comprising protected countersunk head fasteners when application is made as per scheme specified in Annex 2. Adherence must be good before and after: 14 days of water immersion according to ISO 2812-2 except temperature which must be 23 null 2C block made of 2024 or 7075 paint and ap

33、plication scheme as per Annex 2 Square pattern test as per ISO 2409: By applying a 3M n250 adhesive tape and removing it steadily perpendicularly Requirement : Degree 0 at initial stage Degree 3 after water immersion Resistance to heat Protections must be free from signs of damage and cracks after s

34、oaking at specified temperature for 4 hours. Heating: 4 h at 500 C (null15) cooling in air. 35、rotected fasteners must not be the cause of increased galvanic corrosion when compared to sample cadmium plated fasteners (1) installed in unpainted aluminium alloy parts. Galvanic corrosion is to be checked for around the countersink, bore and around head. The aluminium protected fasteners and the

36、sample cadmium plated fasteners are to be subjected together to the test opposite. (1) Titanium fasteners : compared with steel bolt cadmium plated as per AMS QQ-P-416, type II, class 2 1) countersunk head fasteners installed with clearance 2) acetic salt spray cycling test for 14 days as per ASTM G

37、85 modified as per NAS 4006 (6 h cycle including): 45 minutes acetic salt spray; 2 hours in open air; 3 hours 15 minutes soak at 35 C (and 45 % to 90 % relative humidity) Embrittlement Titanium bolts must be free from fractures or incipient fractures when subjected to test opposite test as per NASM

38、1312 test No. 5 steel test block TS 1 100 MPa test load: 80 % of minimum ultimate strength of bolt as per specification test time: 72 hours test temperature: 450 C (null10) Axial tensile fatigue Protected fasteners must have the same axial fatigue strength as the unprotected sample fasteners of the

39、same batch as per NASM 1312 test 11 undulating tensile test F/0.1F at ambient temperature fatigue load as per specification of fastener concerned test of 5 protected fasteners compared with 5 unprotected fasteners Electrical conductivity Protections meeting this specification must be conductive Test

40、 specimens, method and acceptance criteria as per Annex 3. Upsetting of rivets Protections meeting this specification and applied to solid rivets must not flake off or crack during the upsetting of these rivets installed as per conditions opposite. After installation, protection must remain smooth a

43、. prEN 6118:2016 (E) 9 Annex C(normative) Electrical conductivity measurement procedure The tests must be performed on a minimum of 8 test specimens: 1) all test specimens shall be traversed by a current of 0,6 A and their ohmic resistance recorded; 2) 4 identical batches of tested test specimens sh

44、all be made; 3) the test specimens of batch 1 shall be conserved as reference specimens; 4) the test specimens of the second batch shall be measured after they have been traversed by a 50 A current; 5) the test specimens of the third batch shall be measured after they have been traversed by a 150 A

45、current; 6) the test specimens of the fourth batch shall be measured after they have been traversed by a 300 A current; NOTE These measurements must mandatorily be made before test specimens are subjected to lightning test. 7) the mean of the ohmic resistance values will be calculated on test specim

46、ens of batches 1, 2, 3 and 4. This mean must not exceed 3 m and no value must exceed 6 m; 8) traverse the test specimens of batches 2, 3 and 4 with a lightning current with the following characteristics: initial stroke : Mean current = 10 K A Rise time to Imax= 10 s Continuing component : Mean curre

47、nt = 100 A Time = 1 s 9) repeat measurements of steps (4), (5) and (6) with test specimens batches 2, 3 and 4 respectively. These ohmic resistance values shall be forwarded to the mandated body. The lightning strikes are made in a dark room with photographic recording of the two faces of the test sp

48、ecimens.
