15、loride, an ingredient used in toothpaste. Prof. Robert H. Crabtree and graduate student Juan Burdenic described the process in the Jan. 19 issue of the journal Science. The process involves heating sodium oxalate, a chemical found in rhubarb, to break down Freon and other chlorofluorocarbons into Th

16、e process was discovered accidentally by Burdenic while he was working on a project for his doctoral theses. The process might be useful in eiiminating stockpiles of Freon but thats not the real problem, according to Mario Molina, a professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and one of three

17、 people who won a Nobel Prize in 1995 for demonstrating that CFCs destroy ozone “It is something useful but of relatively limited applicabilitg Molina told The Association Press. “The main problem is that most CFCs are released into the environment, and once in the environ- ment there is no hope of

18、retrieving them. The major solution is not salt and sodium fluoride. Industry Roundup Inter-city to Stay Course TORONTO-Inter-city Products has ter- minated sales and merger discussions, and will continue to operate under the leadership of W. Saudi Show Sets Record SaudiBuild 95, a recent five-day construction industr

A show spokesman said the exhibi- tion showed Saudi Arabia is shifting from heavy construction to interiors, building security and maintenance. The country, he said, is spending $8 billion a year on infrastructur
