2、 for Cableways, Cranes, Derricks, Hoists, Hooks, Jacks, and Slings, to inquiries concerning interpretations of technical aspects of ASME B30.22, Articulating Boom Cranes. These replies are taken verbatim from the original letters except for a few typographical corrections and some minor editorial co

In some few instances, a review of the interpretation revealed a need for corrections of a technical nature: in these cases a corrected interpretation follows immediately after the original reply. These interpretations were prepared in accordance w

ASME pro- cedures provide for reconsideration of these interpretations when or if additional information is available which the inquirer believes might affect the interpretation. Further, persons aggrieved by this interpretation may appeal to the cognizant ASME Co

6、h 7, 1997 Question (1): Do paras. 22-1.2.l(a) and (b), 22-1.2.2(b) and (c), and 22-1.2.3(d)(2) require load-holding valves to be directly, integrally part of the cylinder, either pad mounted with valves bolted or screwed into the cylinder? Reply (1): The B30.22 volume requires a holding device on cy
7、linders to prevent uncontrolled lowering or movement of the boom or load in case of a hydraulic line failure. There are many concepts of design that can accomplish this requirement. The B30.22 volume is a safety standard that provides requirements for safe product design. The volume clearly defines
8、the purpose of the device. It is beyond the scope of this B30 Standard to define or approve specific design methods or concepts to meet the Standards requirements. 15、arview mirror? Reply: If the stabilizer is fully visible throughout its movement by direct eyesight or with the use of a mirror from an actuating location, no signal person is required.
