Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance6.1 The castings shall be made in a workmanlike mannerand the surface shall be free of adhering sand, scale, cracks,and hot tears as determined by visual examination.7. Chemical Requirements7.1 A chemical analysis shall be performed on each
8、lot andshall conform to the following requirements for phosphorusand sulfur:Phosphorus, max, % 0.75Sulfur, max, % 0.157.2 The chemical analysis shall be performed on a sampleobtained during the pouring of the lot.8. Tensile Properties8.1 One tension test shall be performed on each lot and shallconfo

(28.6 mm) diameter test barsshown in Fig. 1 shall be poured in sand molds from the samelot as the castings represented.NOTE 2The numbering on the test specimens shown in Fig. 1 and Fig.2 is intended simp

21、 demonstrate sufficientprocess control to warrant such an extension.12. Test Specimens12.1 Tension test specimens shall have threaded ends andconform to the dimensions shown in Fig. 2. The cross-sectionalarea of the reduced section shall be 1 in.2(645 mm2) 65 %. Theactual cross-sectional area shall
22、be used in calculating thetensile strength.13. Alternate Test Bars13.1 Alternate test bars poured in accordance with Specifi-cation A48/A48M to the equivalent classes shown in Table 2may be substituted for the Specification A126 test bars. Whenthe alternate bars are used, they shall be machined and
23、tested inaccordance with Specification A48/A48M and shall meet therequirements of Specification A48/A48M.14. Inspection14.1 All tests and inspections required by this specificationshall be performed by the manufacturer or other reliablesources whose services have been contracted for by themanufactur
24、er. Complete records of all tests and inspectionsshall be maintained by the manufacturer and shall be availablefor review by the purchaser.15. Rejection and Rehearing15.1 Castings which fail to conform to the requirementsspecified when inspected or tested by the purchaser or his agentmay be rejected
25、. Rejection shall be reported to the manufac-turer or supplier promptly and in writing. In case of dissatis-faction with the test results, the manufacturer or supplier maymake claim for a rehearing.16. Certification16.1 When requested by the purchaser, the manufacturershall furnish the certification
26、 stating that the material wasmanufactured, sampled, tested, and inspected in accordancewith Specification A126, including the year date. The certifi-cation shall also include the results of all tests performedincluding chemical analysis.16.2 A signature is not required on the certification. How-eve
27、r, the document shall clearly identify the organizationsubmitting the certification and the authorized agent of themanufacturer who certified the test results. Notwithstandingthe absence of a signature, the organization submitting thecertification is responsible for its content.17. Keywords17.1 gray
