3、e1.1 This specification2covers minimum-wall-thickness,electric-resistance-welded, carbon steel tubes to be used forheat exchangers, condensers, and similar heat-transfer appara-tus.1.2 The tubing sizes usually furnished to this specificationare to 3 in. 76.2 mm in outside diameter, inclusive. Tubing
4、having other dimensions may be furnished, provided suchtubes comply with all other requirements of this specification.1.3 Mechanical property requirements do not apply totubing smaller than18 in. 3.2 mm in inside diameter or 0.015in. 0.4 mm in thickness.1.4 The purchaser shall specify in the order t
5、he outsidediameter and minimum wall thickness. The inside diametershall not be specified.1.5 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. General Requirements4.1 Material furnished under this specification shall con-form to the applicable requirements of the current edition ofSpecification A 450/A 450M, unless otherwise providedherein.5. Manufacture5.1 Tubes sh
10、all be made by electric-resistance welding.6. Heat Treatment6.1 After welding, all tubes shall be heat treated at atemperature of 1650F 900C or higher and followed bycooling in air or in the cooling chamber of a controlledatmosphere furnace. Cold drawn tubes shall be heat treatedafter the final cold
11、-draw pass at a temperature of 1200F650C or higher.7. Product Analysis8.1 When requested on the purchase order, a product analy-sis shall be made by the supplier from 1 tube per 250 pieces;when tubes are identified by heat, one tube per heat shall beanalyzed. The chemical composition thus determined shallconform to the requirements specifie
16、d.8.2 If the original test for product analysis fails, retests oftwo additional lengths of flat-rolled stock, or tubes shall bemade. Both retests, for the elements in question, shall meet therequirements of the specification; otherwise all remainingmaterial in the heat or lot (Note 1) shall be rejec
17、ted or, at theoption of the producer, each length of flat-rolled stock or tubemay be individually tested for acceptance. Lengths of flat-rolled stock or tubes which do not meet the requirements of thespecification shall be rejected.NOTE 1A lot consists of 250 tubes.9. Hardness Requirements9.1 The tu
18、bes shall have a hardness number not exceeding72 HRB.10. Mechanical Tests Required10.1 Flattening TestOne flattening test shall be made onspecimens from each of two tubes from each lot (Note 1)orfraction thereof.10.2 Flange TestOne flange test shall be made on speci-mens from each of two tubes from
19、each lot (Note 1) or fractionthereof.10.3 Reverse Flattening TestOne reverse flattening testshall be made on a specimen from each 1500 ft 450 m offinished tubing.10.4 Hardness TestBrinell or Rockwell hardness testsshall be made on specimens from two tubes from each lot. Theterm lot applies to all tu
20、bes prior to cutting, of the samenominal diameter and wall thickness which are produced fromthe same heat of steel. When final heat treatment is in abatch-type furnace, a lot shall include only those tubes of thesame size and the same heat which are heat treated in the samefurnace charge. When final
21、 heat treatment is in a continuousfurnace, a lot shall include all tubes of the same size and heat,heat treated in the same furnace at the same temperature, timeat heat, and furnace speed.10.5 Hydrostatic or Nondestructive Electric TestEachtube shall be subjected to either the hydrostatic or the non
22、de-structive electric test. The purchaser may specify which test isto be used.11. Surface Condition11.1 The finished tubes shall be free of scale. A slightamount of oxidation shall not be considered as scale.12. Product Marking12.1 In addition to the marking prescribed in SpecificationA 450/A 450M,
23、the letters “ERW” shall be legibly stenciled oneach tube, or marked on a tag attached to the bundle or box inwhich the tubes are shipped.12.2 The manufacturers name or symbol may be placedpermanently on each tube by rolling or light stamping beforenormalizing. If a single stamp is placed on the tube
24、 by hand,this mark should not be less than 8 in. 200 mm from one endof the tube.12.3 Bar CodingIn addition to the requirements in 12.1and 12.2 bar coding is acceptable as a supplemental identifi-cation method. The purchaser may specify in the order aspecific bar coding system to be used.ASTM Interna
