Scope1.1 This specification2covers lo

3、w-alloy steels and marten-sitic stainless steels in the normalized and tempered, orquenched and tempered, condition suitable for pressure-containing parts. The weldability of the classes in this speci-fication varies from readily weldable to weldable only withadequate precautions, and the weldabilit

4、y of each class shouldbe considered prior to assembly by fusion welding.1.2 Selection will depend on design, mechanical, and ser-vice conditions. Users should note that hardenability of someof the grades mentioned may restrict the maximum size atwhich the required mechanical properties are obtained.

5、1.3 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, theSI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in eachsystem are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system mustbe used independently of the other. Combining values from t

General Conditions for Delivery3.1 Material furnished to this

9、specification shall conform tothe requirements of SpecificationA 703/A 703M including anysupplementary requirements that are indicated in the purchaseorder. Failure to comply with the general requirements ofSpecification A 703/A 703M constitutes nonconformance withthis specification. In case of conf

10、lict between the requirementsof this specification and Specification A 703/A 703M, thisspecification shall prevail.4. Ordering Information4.1 The inquiry and order should include or indicate thefollowing:4.1.1 A description of the casting by pattern number ordrawing (dimensional tolerances shall be

11、included on thecasting drawing),4.1.2 ASTM designation and year of issue,4.1.3 Grade and class of steel,4.1.4 Options in the specification, and4.1.5 The supplementary requirements desired including thestandard of acceptance.5. Heat Treatment5.1 All castings shall receive a heat treatment indicated i

12、nTable 1. Preliminary heat treatment prior to final heat treatmentas well as multiple tempering is permitted.5.2 Heat treatment shall be performed after the castingshave been allowed to cool below the transformation range.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee A01 on Steel,S

Chemical Composition6.1 The steel shall conform

17、 to the requirements as tochemical composition prescribed in Table 2. Product analysistolerance shall conform to the product analysis toleranceshown in Specification A 703/A 703M. Product analysis toler-ances for stainless grades are not presently applicable pendingdevelopment of these limits.7. Ten

18、sile Requirements Tensile Requirements7.1 Tensile properties of steel used for the castings shallconform to the requirements prescribed in Table 3.8. Quality8.1 The surface of the casting shall be free of adhering sand,scale, cracks, and hot tears as determined by visual examina-tion. Other surface

19、discontinuities shall meet the visual accep-tance standards specified in the order. Visual Method SP-55 orother visual standards may be used to define acceptable surfacediscontinuities and finish. Unacceptable visual surface discon-tinuities shall be removed and their removal verified by visualexami

20、nation of the resultant cavities. When methods involvinghigh temperatures are used in the removal and repair ofdiscontinuities, the casting shall be preheated to at least theminimum temperature in Table 4.8.2 The castings shall not be peened, plugged, or impreg-nated to stop leaks.9. Repair By Weldi

Reexaminationof the weld repair by radiography when Su
