General Requirements and Ordering Information3.1 Plates furnished supplied to this material specification shall conform to Specification A20/A20M. These requirementsoutline the testing and retesting methods and procedures; permissible variatio

13、ns in dimensions; and mass, quality, and repair ofdefects, marking, loading, etc. and ordering information.3.2 Specification A20/A20M also establishes the rules for the ordering information which should be complied with whenpurchasing material to this specification.3.2 In addition to the basic requi

14、rements of this specification, certain supplementary requirements are available when additionalcontrol, testing, or examination is required to meet end use requirements. These include: The purchaser is referred to the listedsupplementary requirements in this specification and to the detailed require

Manufacture4.1 Steelmaking PracticeThe steel shall be killed and conform to the fine austenitic grain size requirement of Spec

17、ificationA20/A20M.5. Heat Treatment5.1 All plates shall be thermally treated as follows:5.1.1 Class 1 plates shall be normalized.5.1.2 Class 2 and Class 3 plates shall be quenched and tempered. The tempering temperature for Class 2 plates shall not be lessthan 1100F 595C and not less than 1150F 620C

18、 for Class 3 plates.6. Chemical Requirements6.1 The steel shall conform to the chemical requirements shown in Table 1 unless otherwise modified in accordance withSupplementary Requirement S17, Vacuum Carbon-Deoxidized Steel, in Specification A20/A20M.7. Mechanical Requirements7.1 Tension Tests:7.1.1

19、 RequirementsThe material as represented by the tension-test specimens shall conform to the requirements shown inTable 2.7.1.2 For Class 2 and Class 3 plates with a nominal thickness of 34 in. 20 mm and under, the 112-in. 40-mm wide rectangularspecimen may be used for the tension test, and the elong

20、ation may be determined in a 2-in. 50-mm gage length that includes thefracture and that shows the greatest elongation.8.
