Scope1.1 This specification

3、 covers cold-finished wire and hot-finished wire rods in coils. Wire rods are a semi-finishedproduct primarily for the manufacture of wire. Wire includesrounds, squares, hexagons, and special shapes in the morecommonly used types of stainless free-machining steels de-signed especially for optimum ma

4、chinability and for generalcorrosion and high-temperature service.NOTE 1For wire other than those of the free-machining types, seeSpecification A 580/A 580M.1.2 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI(metric) units are to be regarded separately as standards; withinthe text and tables, the

Chemical Composition4.1 The steel shall conform to the requirements as tochemical composition specified in Table

11、1.4.2 Methods and practices relating to chemical analysisrequired by this specification shall be in accordance with TestMethods, Practices, and Terminology A 751.5. Condition5.1 Cold-finished wire may be furnished in one of theconditions listed in Table 2.5.2 Wire rods may be furnished in the as-hot

15、.1 Wire products shall conform to the mechanical testrequirements specified in Table 3.6.2 Wire rods shall conform to the annealed mechanical testrequirements specified in Table 3.7. Finish7.1 Wire rods are furnished with a hot rolled or a hot rolledand cleaned finish.7.2 Wire in the cold-finished c

16、ondition, is generally fur-nished with a cold-drawn finish.8. General Requirements for Delivery8.1 In addition to the requirements of this specification, allrequirements of the current edition of Specification A 555/A 555M shall apply. Failure to comply with the generalrequirements of Specification
