Scope1.1 This specification covers one grade of nickel oxidesinter, designated as 75 used for alloying in iron and steelmelting.1.2 The values stated in

4、rdering Information3.1 Orders for materials under this specification shall in-clude the following information:3.1.1 Name of materialnickel oxide sinter,3.1.2 ASTM designation and year of issue, and3.1.3 Grade.3.2 Although nickel oxide sinter may be ordered either bytotal net weight or contained weig

5、ht, the customary basis forpayment is per pound of contained nickel.4. Chemical Composition4.1 Nickel oxide sinter shall conform to the requirements asto chemical composition specified in Table 1.4.2 The manufacturer shall furnish an analysis of eachshipment showing the nickel content.4.3 The values

6、 shown for cobalt, copper, iron and sulfur areexpected maximums. Upon request of purchaser, the manufac-turer shall furnish an analysis for any of these elements over aperiod of production mutually agreed upon by manufacturerand the purchaser.5. Size5.1 Nickel oxide sinter is available in containers

7、 packed toeither 50 lb or 22.5 kg of nickel contained, larger uniformweight containers packed to either pound or kilogram weightsor in bulk shipment using suitable rail, truck, or shipboardmeans of conveyance.6. Sampling for Chemical Analysis6.1 The material shall be sampled in accordance withproced

8、ures outlined below:6.1.1 The sample shall be taken by cutting across the entirestream at regular intervals during the time of movement of themass being sampled. The quantity to be taken at each intervaland the number of such intervals shall be so proportioned thatthe total quantity taken shall amou

9、nt to not less than 0.40 % ofthe total material being sampled.6.2 Treatment of Sample:6.2.1 In the case of nickel oxide sinter 75, the samplerepresenting each shipment or lot shall be reduced in amountusing a riffle splitter or other suitable mechanical splitter to1000 g. This 1000-g sample shall be

10、 placed in an oven at 250F(121C) for12 h to remove any traces of moisture, and thenpulverized to pass an 80-mesh screen using appropriate equip-ment to avoid sample contamination. Approximately 250 g ofthis pulverized material shall be split out for copper and sulfurassays, using a riffle splitter o

11、r other suitable mechanicalsplitter. The unused portion of individual shipment (or lot)samples whose copper and sulphur assays are within specifi-cation shall be combined by weight into two, three, or four lotcomposites. Approximately 250 g of the composited materialshall be split out, using a riffl

12、e splitter or other suitablemechanical splitter and analyzed for nickel. This nickel analy-sis shall apply to each shipment (or lot) comprising thecomposite.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee A01 on Steel,Stainless Steel, and Related Alloys and is the direct responsibili

Chemical Analysis7.1 Chemical analysis when required shall be made inaccordance with the procedures for nickel described inMethods E 39, or alternative method agreed upon by themanufacturer and the purchaser

16、.7.1.1 When no method is given in Methods E 39 foranalysis for a particular element or the method given is notadequate, the analysis shall be made in accordance with aprocedure agreed upon between manufacturer and purchaserand such procedure shall apply for referee purposes.7.2 For purposes of compl

17、iance with the specified chemicalcomposition limits, the reported analysis shall be rounded offto the nearest unit in the right-hand place of figures used inexpressing the limiting value, in accordance with rounding-offmethod of Practice E 29.8. Rejection8.1 Any claims or rejections shall be made to

18、 the manufac-turer within 45 days from receipt of material by the purchaser.9. Packaging9.1 The material shall be packaged in sound containers sothat the product is not lost or contaminated in shipment.10.
