、 original adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.A superscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers quenched-and-tempered alloystee
、l and high-strength low-alloy steel plates for piping com-ponents and welded pressure vessels.1.2 Two types are covered, which provide two differentchemical compositions with the same tensile requirements. Both types are quenched-and-tempered to enhance mechanicalproperties.1.2.1 Type A is an alloy s
、teel intended for use at lowambient temperatures of 80F 60C and higher.1.2.2 Type B is a high-strength low-alloy steel intended foruse at ambient temperatures of 20F 30C and higher.1.3 The maximum thickness of plates is limited only by thecapacity of the chemical composition and heat treatment tomee
、t the specified mechanical property requirements. Indi-vidual manufacturers should be consulted on thickness limita-tions since current industry limitations have not been ascer-tained to date.1.4 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. Withi
、n the text, theSI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in eachsystem are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system mustbe used independently of the other. Combining values from thetwo systems may result in nonconformance with the specifi-cation.2. Referenced Documents2.1 ASTM Standards
