Materials and Manufacture4.1 The pipe and fittings shall be iron castings suitable forinstallation and service for sanitary, storm dr

16、ain, waste, andvent piping applications. The pipe and fittings shall meet allapplicable requirements and tests given in this specification.4.2 The castings shall be made of cast iron, produced by anestablished commercial method that provides control overchemical and physical properties. Cast iron is

17、 a generic termfor a series of alloys as defined in Terminology A 644 andincludes gray iron as well as ductile iron. The castings shall besound, true to pattern, and of compact close grain that permitsdrilling and cutting by ordinary methods. The interior surfaceshall be reasonably smooth and free f

19、s operated in accordance with thedetection manufacturers instructions. Written operating andmaintenance procedures for the detection equipment shall beprovided to the purchaser for review when requested. Recordsshall be maintained by load of these tests for a period of sevenyears.4.4 Material that i

21、es shall comply to all local, state, andnational safety laws and regulations and to the requirements ofE 2349.4.7 Foundries manufacturing products to this standard out-side the United States shall comply with all safety laws andregulations existing in the country where the products are beingproduced

22、.4.8 Pipe and fittings shall not be patched, filled, or welded tocorrect cosmetic or material defects that occur during thecourse of manufacturing.5. Mechanical Properties5.1 Mechanical Tests for Gray IronThe manufacturershall perform tests to determine mechanical properties of thegray iron used in

23、the manufacture of gray iron soil pipe andfittings. Tension test specimens shall be employed. The manu-facturer shall maintain a record of mechanical tests for aminimum of 7 years.5.1.1 Tensile Strength TestThe tensile strength shall benot less than 21 000 psi (145 MPa).5.1.2 Tension test reports sh

Chemical Test for Gray Iron6.1 The manufacturer shall perform t

25、ests to determine thesignificant chemical constituents of the gray iron used in themanufacture of gray iron soil pipe and fittings. Analysis shallbe performed at the minimum of once per lot as defined in thisspecification. The manufacturer shall maintain a record ofchemical tests performed for a min

26、imum of 7 years. The testresults shall conform to the following requirements as tochemical composition:Phosphorous (P) 0.38 % MaximumSulfur (S) 0.15 % MaximumChromium (Cr) 0.50 % MaximumTitanium (Ti) 0.10 % MaximumAluminum (Al) 0.50 % MaximumLead (Pb) 0.015 % MaximumCarbon Equivalent 4.10 % Minimum

The inner end of hub shallbe either with or without a centering recess, all combinations ofwhich shall make

29、a satisfactory leakproof joint. Hub and barrelshall be cast in one piece (see Fig. 1).7.1.2 Single-hub pipe shall be of 212-ft (0.75-m), 312-ft(1.00-m), 5-ft (1.5-m), and 10-ft (3.0-m) nominal layinglengths. The laying length shall be as shown in Table 1 andshall be within the tolerances on laying l

30、ength specified inTable 2. Double-hub pipe shall be of the same overall length assingle-hub pipe of the same size. Its laying length shall be 5 ftminus the two telescoping lengths (dimension Y), or 10 ftminus the telescoping length (dimension Y). Other dimensionsshall be as specified in Table 1 as a

34、tothe dimensions specified for hub and spigot ends in Table 1 andTable 2, as applicable. Fittings of the patterns specified in thisspecification shall conform to the applicable dimensions inTables 3-37 inclusive, and to the tolerances in Table 2. Otherpatterns (Note 1) shall conform to Table 1, as a

35、pplicable, forhub and spigot dimensions, and for wall thickness throughout, and to dimension R8, Tables 15-17, for the minimum radius ofany drainage inlets that such fittings shall be permitted toprovide. All fittings shall have spigot ends of sufficient lengthto provide adequate room for making join

Methods of Specifying Fittings8.1 Method of Specifying Sizes of Fittings of More than OneSizeThe sizes are designated by the order of listing, asfollows:8.1.1 Branch and tapped fittings:8.1.1.1 Size of run (Note 2), and8.1.1.2 Size of branch.8.1.

43、2 Reducers, increasers, and offset fittings:8.1.2.1 Size of inlet or run (Note 2),8.1.2.2 Size of outlet or offset distance,8.1.2.3 Length, if supplied in more than one length.NOTE 2The run is that portion of the fitting that forms part of themain drain, waste, or vent line. The spigot end is ordina

Coating9.1 The pipe and fittings shall be uniformly coated with amaterial suitable for the purpose, that is adherent, not brittle, and without a tendency to sca

47、le. The coating shall not containasbestos above current MSDS reportable levels. Materialsafety data sheets shall be furnished by the coating manufac-turer when requested. The coating shall be evenly andsmoothly applied to all surfaces except threaded openings.9.2 Pipe and fittings shall not be coate

48、d with paint contain-ing lead which exceeds levels above 0.06 % (600 ppm).9.3 The manufacturer shall annually prepare and submitsamples to a qualified laboratory for test in accordance withPractice E 16459.4 The manufacturer shall prepare and submit sampleswhen changing sources of supply or the coat
