General Conditions for Delivery3.1 Except for investment castings, castings furnished tothis sp

10、ecification shall conform to the requirements of Speci-fication A 781/A 781M, including any supplementary require-ments that are indicated on the purchase order. Failure tocomply with the general requirements of Specification A 781/A 781M constitutes nonconformance with this specification. Incase of

11、 conflict between the requirements of this specificationand Specification A 781/A 781M, this specification shall pre-vail.3.2 Steel investment castings furnished to this specificationshall conform to the requirements of Specification A 957,including any supplementary requirements that are indicated

12、inthe purchase order. Failure to comply with the general require-ments of Specification A 957 constitutes nonconformance withthis specification. In case of conflict between the requirementsof this specification and Specification A 957, Specification A957 shall prevail.4. Ordering Information4.1 Orde

Heat Treatment6.1 Castings shall be heat treated in accordance with therequirements in Table 1.NOTE 2Proper heat treatment of these alloys is usually necessary toenhance corrosion resistance and

Repair by Welding8.1 Repair welding of Grade CA28MWV is not permittedunless by

43、agreement between the manufacturer and the pur-chaser.8.2 When methods involving high temperature are used inthe removal of discontinuities, castings shall be preheated inaccordance with Table 3. Weld repairs shall be subject to thesame quality standards as are used to inspect the castings.8.3 Post

44、weld heat treatment, if required, shall be in accor-dance with Table 1.8.3.1 The martensitic grades CA6NM, CA15, CA15M,CB6, and CA40 shall be retempered after weld repairing,except that local tempering will be permitted if, in the opinionof the manufacturer, furnace heat treating will be damaging to

45、the finished surface of a machined casting. Heat treatment,other than tempering, of grades CA6NM, CA15, CA15M,CB6, and CA40 after weld repairing shall be performed onlywhen agreed upon between the manufacturer and the pur-chaser. Weld repair on Grade CA40F is not recommendedbecause of the risk of lo

46、cal hardening and possible cracking inthe heat affected zone.8.3.2 Post weld heat treatment is not required on the othergrades of this specification. When post weld heat treatment isbelieved necessary for adequate corrosion resistance in theservice environment, castings should be ordered in accordan

47、cewith Specification A 744/A 744M.9. Product Marking9.1 Castings shall be marked for material identification withthe ASTM specification number (A 743/A 743M) and gradesymbol, that is, CF8, CA15, CB30, etc. In addition, themanufacturers name or identification mark and the patternnumber shall be cast

48、or stamped using the low-stress stamps onall castings. Small-size castings may be such that marking mustbe limited consistent with the available area. The marking ofheat numbers on individual castings shall be agreed uponbetween the manufacturer and the purchaser. Marking shall bein such position as

49、 not to injure the usefulness of the casting.10.
