、Designation: A821/A821M 10Standard Specification forSteel Wire, Hard-Drawn for Prestressed Concrete Tanks1This standard is issued under the fixed designation A821/A821M; the number immediately following the designation indicates the yearof original adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of l
、ast revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.A superscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope*1.1 This specification covers uncoated, high-strength, hard-drawn steel wire for use in the construction of prestressedcon
、crete tanks and similar structures. In application, the wire iscontinuously wrapped on the structure maintaining tension bya device using a wire drawing die, or mechanical tensioningsystem without re-drawing.1.2 This specification is applicable only to the condition ofthe wire as delivered to the pu
、rchaser. It is not applicable to theproperties or condition of the wire after application.1.2.1 Type A wire is to be tensioned by drawing through awire drawing die or by a mechanical system without re-drawing.1.2.2 Type B wire is drawn to finished size by the manu-facturer for tensioning by a mechan
、ical system without re-drawing.NOTE 1Type A wire, when tensioned by drawing through a die, maynot function properly if the purchaser does not ensure that duringapplication the surface of the wire is free of rust and foreign materials thatcan be detrimental to good wire drawing practice. Further, the
、 purchasershould ensure that proper wire drawing techniques are followed, includingadequate lubrication, cooling, and proper die mechanics.1.3 This specification is applicable for orders in eitherinch-pounds units (as Specification A821) or in SI units (asSpecification A821M).1.4 The values stated i
、n either inch-pound units or SI unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, theSI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in eachsystem may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each systemshall be used independently of the other. Combining valuesfrom the two systems may r

Chemical Composition Requirements5.1 The steel shall conform to the chemical compositionrequirements specified in Table 1.5.2 Heat AnalysisEach heat of steel shall be analyzed bythe manufacturer. This analysis shall be made from a t
