Materials and Manufacture6.1 The steel from which the wire is produced shall be madeby any commercially accepted steelmaking process.6.2 Coating Bath AnalysisThe bath metal used in continu-ous hot-dip Zn-5 Al-MM alloy-coate

17、d wire shall meet thechemical composition limits specified in Specification B 750.6.2.1 For a two-step coating operation where the firstcoating is zinc (hot-dip galvanizing or electrogalvanizing) thefinal bath shall be permitted to have an aluminum content of upto 7.2 % to prevent depletion of the a

18、luminum content of thebath.6.2.2 Method of AnalysisThe determination of chemicalcomposition shall be made in accordance with suitable chemi-cal (see Test Method E 47 for tin), ICP Argon Plasma Spec-trometric (see Test Methods E 1277), or other methods. In caseof dispute, the results secured by Text

19、Methods E 1277 shall bethe basis of acceptance.6.2.3 A standard practice for X-ray fluorescence spectrom-etry for determination of cerium and lanthanum in a zinc-5 %aluminum-mischmetal alloy has been established by the Inter-national Lead Zinc Research Organization (Standard PracticeGF-1). In case o

20、f dispute, the results secured by Test MethodsE 1277 shall be the basis of acceptance.7. Mechanical Properties7.1 The Zn-5 Al-MM alloy coated wire as represented bythe test specimens tested in accordance with Test Methods E 8shall conform to the tensile strength requirements prescribed inTable 2.7.2

21、 Test specimens found to contain a weld or obviousimperfections shall be discarded and another test specimenobtained to verify conformance to the tensile strength require-ments.8. Coating Tests8.1 Weight of CoatingThe Zn-5 Al-MM alloy-coated wirewhen tested in accordance with Test Method A 90/A 90M

22、shallconform to the requirements of Table 1 for minimum weight ofcoating for the class required.NOTE 2A typical ratio of 0.20 oz/ft261 g/m2 equals 200 to 240 h assalt spray test in accordance with Test Method B 117 may be used.8.2 Adherence of CoatingThe Zn-5 Al-MM alloy-coatedwire as represented by

23、 the test specimens shall be capable ofbeing wrapped in a close helix at a rate not exceeding 15turns/min around a cylindrical steel mandrel having a diameteras prescribed in Table 3 without cracking or delaminating thecoating to such an extent that any coating is removed whenrubbed with the bare fi

Permissible Vari

33、ations9.1 The permissible variation in diameter of the Zn-5A1-MM alloy-coated wire as represented by the test specimensshall meet the requirements shown in Table 4.10. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance10.1 The Zn-5 Al-MM alloy-coated wire shall be free ofslivers, scale, and other imperfections not

34、 consistent with goodcommercial practice. The coating shall be continuous andreasonably uniform. To ensure large continuous length coils,welds are permitted in the finished wire.11. Number of Tests and Retests11.1 The number of test specimens taken from the ends ofcoils during production to ensure c

35、ompliance with Sections 7,9, and 8 vary with the quality control procedures and themanufacturing facilities of each manufacturer but is generallynot less than 10 % of the coils produced. For the purpose offinal product testing, one specimen from every ten coils orfraction thereof in a lot shall be s

36、elected at random or a total ofseven specimens, whichever is less.11.2 A wire sample of sufficient length, approximately 4 ft1.2 m, shall be cut from either end of each coil selected fortests described in Sections 7, 9, and 8.11.3 If one or more of the wire specimens fail any require-ment, the lot s

37、hall be subjected to retest. For retest purposes,the original lot shall be regrouped into 50 coil lots or fractionsthereof. Each lot shall be 10 % tested for the property in whichthe original sample failed to comply. The number of samplesthus selected shall be at least twice the number of the origin

38、alsampling. Any lot that exhibits a failure shall be rejected.11.3.1 The manufacturer has the option of testing each coilin the failed lot for the property in which the failure occurred,rejecting the nonconforming coils. The coils which conformfor the property tested shall be accepted.12. Inspection

39、12.1 Unless otherwise specified in the purchase order orcontract, the manufacturer is responsible for the performanceof all inspection and test requirements specified in this speci-fication. Except as otherwise specified in the purchase order orcontract, the manufacturer shall use his own or any oth

40、ersuitable facilities for the performance of the inspection and testrequirements, at his option, unless disapproved by the pur-chaser at the time the order is placed. The purchaser shall havethe right to perform any of the inspections and tests set forth inthis specification when such inspections an

41、d tests are deemednecessary to ensure that the material conforms to prescribedrequirements.13. Rejection and Rehearing13.1 Material that fails to conform to the requirements ofthis specification is subject to rejection. Rejection shall bereported to the producer or supplier promptly and in writing.

42、Incase of dissatisfaction with the results of the test, the produceror supplier shall make claim for a rehearing.14. Certification14.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, aproducers or suppliers certification shall be furnished to thepurchaser that the material was manufactured, sample

43、d, tested,and inspected in accordance with this specification and hasbeen found to meet the requirements. When specified in thepurchase order or contract, a report of the test results shall befurnished.15. Packaging and Marking15.1 Unless otherwise specified, packaging, marking, andloading for shipm

44、ent shall be in accordance with PracticesA 700.15.2 When specified in the contract or order, and for directprocurement by or direct shipment to the U.S. Government,when Level A is specified, preservation, packaging, and pack-ing shall be in accordance with the Level A requirement ofMIL-STD-163.15.3

45、When specified in the contract or order, and for directprocurement by or direct shipment to the U.S. Government,marking for shipment, in addition to requirements specified inthe contract or order, shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129 for U.S. military agencies and in accordance with Fed.
