Scope*1.1 This specification covers wrought high-strength ferriticsteel butt-welding fittings of seamless and electric f

3、usion-welded construction covered by the latest revisions of ASMEB16.9, ASME B16.28, and MSS-SP-75. Butt-welding fittingsdiffering from these ASME and MSS standards shall befurnished in accordance with Supplementary Requirement S58of Specification A 960/A 960M. These fittings are for use inhigh-pres

4、sure gas and oil transmission and distribution sys-tems.1.2 Optional supplementary requirements are provided forfittings when a greater degree of examination is desired. One ormore of the supplementary requirements may be specified inthe order.1.3 This specification does not cover cast-welding fitti

The chemical compositionshall conform to Table 1.5.3 Astarting material that specifically requires the additionof any element beyond those listed in Table 1 is not permitted.This does not preclude the use of deoxidizers.5.4 Starting material shall not require a preheat for fieldwe

19、lding provided that the restrictions of ASME Boiler andPressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Paragraph UW-30 arecomplied with.5.5 Forging or shaping operations may be performed byhammering, pressing, piercing, extruding, upsetting, rolling,bending, fusion, welding, machining, or by a combination ofthe

20、se operations.5.6 All welds including welds in tubular products fromwhich the fittings are made shall be:5.6.1 Made by welders, welding operators, and weldingprocedures qualified under the provisions of ASME Boiler andPressure Vessel Code, Section IX,5.6.2 Heat treated in accordance with Section 6 o

21、f thisspecification, and5.6.3 Radiographically examined throughout the entirelength of each weld in accordance with Articles 1 and 2 ofASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section V withacceptance limits in accordance with Paragraph UW-51 ofASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII.5.7 The

22、 welded joints of the fittings shall be furnished inaccordance with the requirements of Paragraph UW-35(a) ofASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII.5.8 All butt-weld tees manufactured by cold-forming meth-ods shall be liquid penetrant or magnetic particle examined byone of the methods sp

23、ecified in Supplementary RequirementsS69 or S70 of Specification A 960/A 960M. This examinationshall be performed in accordance with a written procedure andshall be performed after final heat treatment. Only the side wallarea of the tees need be examined. This area is defined by acircle that covers

24、the area from the weld bevel of the branchoutlet to the center line of the body or run. Internal and externalsurfaces shall be examined when size permits accessibility. Nocracks shall be permitted. Other imperfections shall be treatedin accordance with 12.1 on finish. After the removal of anycracks,

25、 the tees shall be re-examined by the original method.Acceptable tees shall be marked with the symbol PT or MT, asapplicable, to indicate compliance. NDE personnel shall bequalified in accordance with SNT-TC-1A.5.9 All caps machined from bar stock shall be examined byliquid penetrant or magnetic par

26、ticle in accordance withSupplementary Requirements S69 or S70 of SpecificationA 960/A 960M, and with personnel qualifications, acceptancecriteria, and marking as in 5.8.6. Heat Treatment6.1 All fittings shall be furnished in the heat-treated condi-tion. Fittings formed above the transformation tempe

27、rature orupon which welding is performed, shall be cooled to below thelower critical temperature prior to heat treatment. Fittings shallsubsequently be heat treated by normalizing, quenching, andtempering or stress relieving in accordance with SpecificationA 960/A 960M.7. Chemical Composition7.1 The

28、 chemical composition of the steel shall conform tothe requirements prescribed in Table 1.7.2 The steel shall not contain any unspecified elements forthe ordered grade to the extent that it conforms to therequirements of another grade for which that element is aspecified element having a required mi

29、nimum content.7.3 Analysis of each heat of steel shall be made from asample taken preferably during the pouring of the heat. Theresults shall conform to Table 1 for either heat or SpecificationA 960/A 960M for product analysis limits as applicable.7.4 The fittings manufacturer shall make a product a

30、nalysisper heat from either the starting material or from a fitting. Thechemical composition thus determined shall conform to Table1. The product analysis shall be the basis for rejection. Forreferee purposes, Test Methods, Practices, and TerminologyA 751 shall apply.7.5 The carbon equivalent of the

31、 base metal, as determinedby the following formula, shall not exceed 0.42 % for theproduct analysis:CE 5 C 1Mn61Cr 1 Mo 1 V51Ni 1 Cu157.6 Weld metal used in the construction of the fittings shallconform to the tensile and impact requirements of 9.4 and 8.1after heat treatment in accordance with Sect

32、ion 6. A chemicalanalysis shall be performed on deposited weld metal for eachheat of filler metal or, for submerged arc welding, each heat offiller metal and batch of flux. Notch Toughness Properties8.1 The notch toughness properties of the fittings shallconform to the requirements listed in Table 2. The testing sha

36、llbe performed in accordance with Test Methods and DefinitionsA 370. Full size Charpy, V-notch specimens shall be usedwhenever possible. Small size specimens shall be used onlywhen the material thickness does not permit full size speci-mens. The impact specimens shall not be flattened after heattrea

37、tment. All base metal specimens shall be removed with theaxis of the specimens longitudinal to the direction of primarymetal flow. Weld-metal specimens shall be specimens with theaxis transverse to the weld seam.8.2 One set of impact tests (three specimens) shall be madeto represent the base metal a

38、nd one set (three specimens) torepresent the weld metal on the same frequency as the tensiontests.8.3 The test temperature shall be 50 F 46 C.9. Tensile Requirements9.1 The tensile properties of the fitting material shall con-form to the requirements listed in Table 2.9.2 Tension test specimens shal

39、l be taken from a fitting afterfinal heat treatment or from a test piece of the same heat andnominal thickness that was heat treated in a furnace chargewith the fittings they represent.9.3 One tensile test is required for each heat of fittings of thesame section thickness, and heat treated in either

40、 a continuousor batch-type furnace, controlled within a range of 50 F 28C and equipped with recording pyrometers.9.4 In addition, fittings containing welds shall have onecenter-weld tension test made with the axis transverse to theweld seam for each heat of filler metal, or each heat of fillermetal

41、and batch of flux for submerged arc welds, for fittings ofthe same section thickness and heat treated in either a continu-ous or batch-type furnace controlled within a range of 50 F28 C and equipped with recording pyrometers.
