Process5.1 If a specific type of melting is required by the purchaser,it shall be stated on the purchase order.5.2 When specified on the purchase order, or when aspecific type of melting has been specified on the purchaseorder, the material manufacturer shall indicate on the test reportthe
9、type of melting used to produce the material.6. Heat Treatment6.1 The austenitic chromium-nickel steels shall be solution-annealed to meet the mechanical property requirements of thisspecification. Solution-annealing shall consist of heating thematerial to a temperature of 1900F (1040C) minimum for
10、anappropriate time followed by water quenching or rapidlycooling by other means.7. Material Test Report7.1 A report of the results of all tests required by thisspecification and the type of melting used shall be supplied tothe purchaser.8. Chemical Composition8.1 The chemical analysis of representat
11、ive material shall beperformed, as agreed upon between the purchaser and supplier,to determine the percentages of the elements identified in Table1. The chemical composition thus determined shall be reportedto the purchaser, or his representative, and shall conform to therequirements specified in Ta
12、ble 1.8.2 When a product (check or verification) analysis isperformed, the chemical composition thus determined mayvary from the specified limits by the amounts shown in Table1, ProductAnalysis Tolerances, of Specification A480/A480M.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee A0

Mechanical Properties9.1 Tensile PropertiesThe material shall conform to thetensile property requirements specified in Table 2.9.2 HardnessThe material shall conform to the hardnessrequirements as specified in Table 2.
17、9.3 GradeThe grade of the material is defined by theuniformity of the dispersion of the boron within the melt.Grade A corresponds to the near-optimal dispersion, whileGrade B corresponds to a less-than-optimal dispersion of theboron. Conventional wrought metallurgical practice conformsto Grade B pro
18、perties. The quality of the boron dispersion ismeasured indirectly through the ductility requirements, asspecified in Table 2.10. Special Tests10.1 If any special tests are required that are pertinent to theintended application of the material ordered, they shall beagreed upon between the supplier a
19、nd the purchaser.10.2 Charpy V-notch impact testing is not required unless itis specified on the purchase order. If so specified, impacttesting shall be performed in accordance with Test Methodsand Definitions A370. The impact test results thus determinedshall be reported to the purchaser, or his re
20、presentative, andshall conform to the requirements specified in Table 3.Ifsubsize impact test specimens are used, the applicable require-ments shall be agreed upon between the purchaser and thesupplier.11. Dimensions and Permissible Variations11.1 Unless otherwise specified in the purchase order, ma
21、-terial shall conform to the permissible tolerances shown inSpecification A480/A480M.11.2 Sheet, Strip, and PlateMaterial with No. 1 finish maybe ground to remove surface imperfections, provided suchgrinding does not reduce the thickness or width at any pointbeyond the permissible variations in dime
22、nsions.12. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance12.1 The material shall be uniform quality consistent withgood manufacturing and inspection practices. The steel shallhave no imperfections of a nature or degree, for the type andquality ordered, that will adversely affect the stamping,forming, machining

General Requirements for Delivery13.1 Material furnished un
29、der this specification shall con-form to the applicable requirements of the current edition ofSpecification A480/A480M. In case of conflict, the require-ments of this specification shall prevail.14. Number of Tests14.1 In the case of sheet or strip produced in coil form, twoor more hardness tests (o
30、ne from each end of the coil); oneimpact test, when required; and one or more tension tests shallbe made on specimens taken from each coil. If the hardnessdifference between the two ends of the coil exceeds 5 HRB, orequivalent, tensile properties must be determined on both ends.14.2 In the case of s
31、heet, strip, or plate produced in cutlengths, one tension test; one impact test, when required; andone or more hardness tests shall be made on each 100 or lesspieces of the same heat and nominal thickness rolled separatelyor continuously and heat treated within the same operatingperiod, either as a
32、lot or continuously.NOTE 1The term “continuously,” as applied to heat treatment, ismeant to describe a heat-treating operation in which one cut length followsanother through the furnace. Interspersement of different melts is permis-sible if they are of approximately the same nominal thickness and ar
33、e heattreated in the same operating period and under the same conditions (timeand temperature), provided that each heat is tested.15. Specimen Preparation15.1 Tension-test specimens shall be taken from finishedmaterial and shall be selected either in the longitudinal ortransverse direction. The tens
34、ion-test specimen shall conformto the appropriate Sections, (Plate-Type Specimen, Sheet-TypeSpecimen, and Round Specimens) of Test Methods and Defi-nitions A370.NOTE 2For plate material up to and including34 in. (19.05 mm) thick,the sheet-type tension specimen described in the Sheet-Type Specimensec
35、tion (Figure relating to rectangular tension test specimens), of TestMethods and Definitions A370 is also permitted.15.2 Notched-bar impact test specimens shall be taken fromfinished material. Full-size (10 by 10 mm) Type A specimensshall be used when the material thickness permits. When thematerial
36、 thickness is insufficient to obtain full-size specimens,subsize specimens shall be used. The subsize specimens mayhave a width of full material thickness or may be reduced inthickness to provide the largest possible standard subsizespecimen listed in Test Methods and Definitions A370. Alter-native
37、specimens may be used, in place of the subsizespecimens, as agreed upon between the purchaser and thesupplier.15.3 Hardness tests may be made on the grip ends of thetensions test specimens before they are subjected to the tensiontest.16. Test Methods16.1 The properties enumerated in this specificati
38、on shall bedetermined in accordance with methods as specified in Speci-fication A480/A480M.16.2 Retests may be made in accordance with the provisionsof the section on General Precautions of Test Methods andDefinitions A370.17. Retreatment17.1 If any specimens selected to represent any heat fail tome
39、et any of the test requirements, the material represented bysuch specimens may be reheat-treated and resubmitted for test.18. Inspection18.1 In addition to inspection performed by the supplier,inspection of the material by the purchasers representative atthe producing plant shall be made as agreed u
40、pon between thepurchaser and supplier as part of the purchase order.19. Rejection and Rehearing19.1 Samples tested by the purchaser in accordance withthis specification that represent rejected material shall beretained for 3 weeks from the date of the notification to theseller of the rejection. In c
41、ase of dissatisfaction with the resultsof the tests, the seller may make claim for a rehearing withinthat time.20. Certification20.1 The producers certification that the material wasmanufactured and tested in accordance with this specification,together with the report of the test results, shall be f
42、urnished atthe time of shipment.21. Product Marking21.1 Each sheet, strip, or plate shall be marked on one face,in the locations indicated below with the designation numberand its suffix, type, test identification number, and the name ormark of the manufacturer. The characters shall be of such sizea
43、s to be clearly legible. The marking shall be sufficiently stableto withstand normal handling. Unless otherwise specified bythe purchaser, the marking, at the producers option, may bedone with: (1) marking fluid (if a specific maximum impuritylimit of designated elements in the marking fluid is requ
