Materials and Manufacture6.1 Materials:6.1.1 The lead coating shall conform to the chemical re-quirements of Table 3.6.1.2

21、 The copper sheet or strip to be lead coated shall bemanufactured by any process that provides a finished productthat conforms to the requirements of Specification B 370.6.2 Manufacture:6.2.1 The lead coating shall be applied to the copper sheet orstrip by hot dipping in a bath of molten lead.6.2.2

22、Unless otherwise specified, the lead coating shall beapplied to the copper sheet or strip after slitting and cutting tothe specified length.7. Chemical Composition7.1 The copper sheet or strip shall have a minimum copper,including silver, content of 99.5 %.7.2 Any copper that complies with 7.1 shall

23、 be acceptable.7.3 If limits for unnamed elements are required, they shallbe established and analysis required by agreement betweenmanufacturer or supplier and purchaser.7.4 The lead coating shall conform to the chemical require-ments of Table 3.8. Temper8.1 Uncoated copper sheet and strip covered b

24、y this speci-fication is commercially available in the following tempers, asdefined by Classification B 601: O60 (soft annealed); H00(eight hard, cold-rolled); and H01 (quarter hard), cold-rolledhigh yield) (see Table 1).9. Physical Property Requirements9.1 Although no minimum grain size is specifie

25、d for soft-temper material, it shall be fully recrystallized.10. 30、Table 1 when tested in accordance with Test Methods E8.Tension test specimens shall be taken so that the longitudinalaxis of such specimens is parallel to the direction of rolling.10.2 Rockwell Hardness:10.2.1 The approximate Rockwell hardness values given inTable 1 are for general information and a

31、ssistance in testingand shall not be used as a basis for product rejection.NOTE 2The Rockwell hardness test offers a quick and convenientmethod of checking for general conformity to the specification require-ments for temper and tensile strength.11. Purchases for the U.S. Government11.1 When specifi

32、ed in the contractor purchase order, prod-uct purchased for an agency of the U.S. government shallconform to the special government requirements specified inthe Supplementary Requirements section of SpecificationB 248.12. Dimensions, Mass, and Permissible Variations12.1 WeightThe weight of the lead-

33、coated sheet and stripcopper shall conform to the minimum requirements of Table 2.12.2 WidthThe tolerances for width of sheets shall be asshown in Table 4.12.3 LengthSheets ordered to exact lengths shall bepermitted to have a variation of +14 in. (+6.5 mm) in length.12.4 StraightnessThe tolerances o

34、n straightness or edge-wise curvature (depth of arc) in any 72-in. (2-m) portion of thetotal length shall be as specified in Table 5 for slit metal andTable 6 for square-sheared metal.13. Workmanship, Finish and Appearance13.1 Lead Coating:13.1.1 The lead coating shall cover both surfaces, edges,and

35、 ends.13.1.2 The coating shall be smooth and free from pinholes,voids, or unwetted areas, but blemishes of a nature that do notinterfere with the intended application are acceptable.13.1.3 The weight of the lead coating shall conform to therequirements of Table 7.14. 36、ion B 248 for chemical and me-chanical properties.14.2 Weight of Coating Tests:14.2.1 Method ATest ten sheets selected at random.14.2.2 Methods B and CTest four representative samplescut from the diagonal of one sheet selected at random.15. Number of Tests and Retests15.1 Tests:15.1.1 Refer to the s

37、ection of Specification B 248 forchemical and mechanical tests.15.1.2 A test on each specimen taken in 14.2.1 or 14.2.2,asapplicable, shall be made for the determination of lead.15.2 Retests:15.2.1 When a specimen fails to meet the requirements of atest, one retest shall be made under the conditions

38、 of theoriginal test.15.2.2 All specimens must conform to test requirementswhen retested or the material may be rejected.16. 47、testing is specified, thedetermination of the lead coating shall be made in accordancewith one of the three following methods:17.4.1 Method ASelect at random ten sheets from thosebeing coated. Weigh these ten sheets before and after coatingand calculate the weight of the coating from the difference

48、inweight on the basis of the ordered size.17.4.2 Method BSelect at random one sheet from thelead-coated sheets furnished. Cut four representative samples214 by 214 in. (60 by 60 mm) from each sheet, uniformlyspaced along a diagonal, the end samples being taken not lessthan 1 in. (25 mm) from the edg

49、e. Weigh and then completelydissolve the four samples of sheet obtained. Determine thecopper by electrolytic assay in accordance with Test MethodE 478. Calculate the weight of the lead coating as the differ-ence between the total weight of the samples and the weight ofcopper found.17.4.3 Method CSelect at random one sheet from thelead-coated sheets furnished. Cut four representative samples214 by 214 in. (60 by 60 mm) from the sheet, uniformly spacedalong a diagonal, the end samples being taken not less than 1in. (25 mm) from the edge. Aft
