Terminology3.1 For definitions of terms related to copper and copperalloys, see Terminology B 846.3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 cup (cupping), na shallow cylindrical shell closed atone end, normally intended for further fabrication, formedfrom a blank.4. 7、ormation4.1 Orders for product under this specification should in-clude the following information:4.1.1 ASTM designation and year of issue.4.1.2 Type and class (Section 1),4.1.3 Grain size (Section 7),4.1.4 Dimensions and tolerances (see 8.1),4.1.5 Drawing number to which order applies (see 8.1), an

Material and Manufacture5.1 Material:5.1.1 The material of manufacture shall be annealed plate,sheet, strip, or disks o
9、f wrought Alloy UNS No. C22000processed to produce even-topped cups.5.2 Manufacture:5.2.1 The material shall be blanked and cupped to meet thecup dimensions specified, and subsequently annealed, if re-quired. The annealed cups shall be cleaned to provide a surfacesuitable for subsequent redrawing in
10、to bullet jackets.6. Chemical Composition6.1 The product shall conform to the chemical requirementsprescribed in Table 1.6.2 Composition limits may be established and analysisrequired for unnamed elements by agreement between manu-facturer and purchaser.6.3 Either copper or zinc may be taken as the
11、differencebetween the sum of all elements analyzed and 100 %. Copper,when determined by difference, must conform to the require-ments of Table 1. Grain Size of Annealed Tempers7.1 Unless there is a prior agreement between the purchaserand supplier the grain size of class II cups shall be produced tohave average grain size corresponding to the limits of theOS025 or OS040 tempers as specif
15、ied in Table 2.7.1.1 Grain size ranges other than those specified in Table 2are to be established by agreement between manufacturer andpurchaser.7.2 Grain size ranges for other cups shall established be byagreement between manufacturer and purchaser.8. Dimensions, Mass, and Permissible Variations8.1
16、 All dimensions and tolerances of cups shall be asindicated on the drawings furnished with the purchase order orcontract.9. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance9.1 The cups shall be uniform in quality and shall be free ofconditions which would interfere with the purpose for whichthe cups are intended

Sampling10.1 The lot size, portion size, and selection of pieces shallbe as follows:10.1.1 Lot Size40 000 lb (18 144 kg) or fraction thereof.10.1.2 Portion Size:10.1.2.1 For chemical analysis5 cups. In accordance withPractice E 255, drillings, millings, etc., shall be taken inapproximately equa
18、l weight from each of the sample cupsselected and combined into one composite sample. The mini-mum weight of the composite sample that is divided into threeequal parts shall be 150 g. Each of the three equal parts shallbe placed in a package and sealed: one for the seller, one for thepurchaser, and

Number of Tests and Retests11.1 Visual InspectionEach cup in the sampl
20、e shall bevisually inspected.11.1.1 Major DefectsNot more than 0.25 % of the cups inthe sample shall contain the following major defects: scalymetal, deep scratches, laminations, slivers, laps, cracks, orwrinkles.11.1.2 Minor DefectsNot more than 2 % of the cups in thesample shall contain the follow
21、ing minor defects: oily cup,greasy cup, dirty cup, oxidized cup, dented or bent edges, orscratches.11.2 Work TestIf required by the purchase order or con-tract, one of the following work tests may be performed by thepurchaser before approval of a lot for shipment:11.2.1 Five hundred cups or more sha
22、ll be subjected to aworking test by processing them through the first drawingoperation. The cups shall draw satisfactorily without showingdefects that will cause them to be unsuitable for the purposeintended.11.2.2 Five thousand cups shall be subjected to a workingtest by processing them satisfactor
23、ily into bullet jackets.11.3 Grain SizeEach cup in the sample shall be tested.11.3.1 If the material fails to pass the visual inspectionexamination or a work test, or if more than one specimen failsthe grain size test, a retest shall be permitted on a sampledouble that of the original sample. The re
24、sult of the retest orretests shall meet the specified requirements.11.4 Chemical AnalysisAn additional sample in accor-dance with 10.1.2.1 is permitted to be made and tested.12. Specimen Preparation12.1 For grain size measurements, either tangential grindingand polishing, or cutting, mounting, and p

29、 Grain size measurements shall be made in a zone thatis the approximate mid-point of the sidewall length andthickness of the cup as shown in Fig. 1. At least threemeasurements shall be made, averaged, and recorded for eachgrain size determination.14. Significance of Numerical Limits14.1 For purposes

Inspection15.1 The manufacturer shall inspect and make the testsnecessary to verify that the product furnished conforms tospecification requirements.1
32、5.2 Measurement of DimensionsEach sample cup shallbe gaged for compliance with all the dimensions shown on theapplicable drawing. In addition, each cup in the sample shall bemeasured for sidewall thickness at two or more opposite pointsat the same distance from the mouth or base. The variation inwal
33、l thickness of any cup so measured shall be within the limitsas shown on the drawing.15.3 If, in addition, source inspection of the material by thepurchaser is agreed upon between the manufacturer and thepurchaser as part of the purchase order or contract, the natureof the facilities needed to satis
34、fy the inspector representing thepurchaser that the product is being furnished in accordancewith this specification shall be included in the agreement. Alltests and the inspection shall be conducted so as not to interfereunnecessarily with the operation of the works.15.4 The manufacturer and the pur
35、chaser, by mutual agree-ment, may accomplish the final inspection simultaneously.16. Rejection and Rehearing16.1 Rejection:16.1.1 Product that fails to conform to specification require-ments when inspected or tested by the purchaser or his agentmay be rejected.16.1.2 Rejection shall be reported to t
36、he manufacturer orsupplier promptly and in writing.16.2 Rehearing:16.2.1 As a result of product rejection, the manufacturer orsupplier may make claim for a retest to be conducted by themanufacturer or supplier and the purchaser.16.2.2 Samples of the rejected product shall be taken inaccordance with
37、the product specification and tested by bothparties following the test method(s) specified in the productspecification, or, alternatively, upon agreement of both parties,an independent laboratory may be selected for the test(s)following the specified test methods.17. Certification17.1 When specified
38、 in the contract or purchase order, thepurchaser shall be furnished certification that samples repre-senting each lot have been either tested or inspected as directedin this specification and the requirements have been met.18. Packaging, and Package Marking18.1 The product shall be separated by type
39、 and class, andprepared for shipment in such a manner as to ensure acceptanceby common carrier for transportation and to afford protectionfrom the normal hazards of transportation.18.2 Each shipping unit shall be legibly marked with thepurchase order number, type, class, gross and net weight, andnam
40、e of supplier. The specification number shall be shown,when specified.18.3 In addition to the above, specific instructions appearingon the purchase order or contract, or issued by the contractingofficer, shall be adhered to unless, by mutual agreement, otherprovisions are established.19.
