Scope*1.1 This specification establishes the requirements fortough-pitch fire-refined copper wire bars, cakes, slabs, andbillets for fabricating in

This copper is not intended for electricalpurposes.1.2 Copper under this specification corresponds to thedesignation “FRTP” (UNS C12500) as shown in ClassificationB224. This copper may also be

4、used to produce other desig-nations of copper where the chemical composition limits arenot lower then those listed for C12500 in Table 1.1.3 Although this specification includes certain UNS desig-nations as described in Practice E527, these designations arefor cross reference only and are not specif

By agreement between the manufacturer andpurchaser, limits may be established and analysis required forunnamed el

Dimensions, Mass, and Permissible Variations7.1 A permissible variation of 65 % in weight and 614 in.(6.35 mm) in any dimension from the manufacturers pub-lished list or the purchasers specified size shall be consideredgood delivery; provided, however, that cakes may vary 63%from the liste

17、d or specified size in any dimension greater than8 in. (203.2 mm). The weight of copper in ingots and ingot barsshall not exceed that specified by more than 10 %, butotherwise its variation is not important.8. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance8.1 Shapes intended for fabrication shall be substantia

18、llyfree of shrink holes, cold sets, pits, sloppy edges, concave tops,and similar defects in set or casting. This requirement shall notapply to ingots or ingot bars, in which physical defects are ofno consequence.9. Sampling9.1 For routine sampling, the sampling practice shall be atthe discretion of

19、the sampler.9.2 In case of dispute the lot size, portion size, and selectionof pieces shall be as follows:9.2.1 Lot SizeAn inspection lot shall consist of all piecesthe same shape and size from the same production lot orfraction thereof.9.2.2 Portion SizeThe portion shall be four or more piecesrando

20、mly selected to be representative of the lot. Should the lotconsist of less than five pieces, each piece shall be sampled.9.3 Chemical Analysis:9.3.1 In case of dispute the sample for chemical analysisshall be taken from the pieces selected in 9.2.2 and combinedinto one composite sample in accordanc

21、e with Practice E255for a product in its final form. The minimum weight of thecomposite sample shall be 150 g.9.3.2 Instead of sampling in accordance with 9.2.2, themanufacturer shall have the option of taking samples at thetime the castings are poured.9.3.2.1 When composition of the material has be

22、en deter-mined during the course of manufacture, sampling of thefinished product by the manufacturer is not required.9.3.3 The number of samples to be taken for determinationof chemical composition shall be as follows:9.3.3.1 When sampled at the time the castings are poured, atleast two samples, one

23、 soon after the start of the pour and onenear the end of the pour, shall be taken for each group ofcastings poured from the same source of molten metal.10. Number of Tests and Retests10.1 TestsThe chemical composition shall be determinedas the average of results obtained from at least two replicatea

24、nalyses for each specified element.10.2 Retests:10.2.1 When requested by the manufacturer or supplier, aretest shall be permitted when test results obtained by thepurchaser fail to conform with the product specification re-quirement(s).10.2.2 Retesting shall be as directed in the product specifi-cat

25、ion for the initial test except for the number of testspecimens which shall be twice that required for the originaltest. Test results for all specimens shall conform to the productspecification requirement(s) in retest and failure to complyshall be cause for lot rejection.11. Specimen Preparation11.

26、1 The preparation of the analytical specimen is theresponsibility of the reporting laboratory.12. Test Methods12.1 For routine analysis, the method of analysis shall be atthe discretion of the reporting laboratory.12.2 In case of dispute concerning copper content, themethod of analysis shall be in a

27、ccordance with Test MethodE53.12.3 In case of dispute concerning antimony, arsenic,bismuth, lead, nickel, selenium, or tellurium content, themethod of analysis shall be by electrothermal atomizationatomic absorption spectrometry as described in the Annex.12.4 Test method(s) for the determination of

28、element(s)resulting from contractual or purchase order agreement shall beas agreed upon between the manufacturer or supplier and thepurchaser.13. Significance of Numerical Limits13.1 Calculated values shall be rounded to the nearest unitin the last right-hand significant digit used in expressing the

29、limiting value in accordance with the rounding method inPractice E29.14. Inspection14.1 The manufacturer, or supplier, shall inspect and maketests necessary to verify the furnished product conforms to thespecification requirements.15. Rejection and Rehearing15.1 Rejection:15.1.1 Product that fails t

33、amples of the rejected product shall betaken in accordance with the product specification and sub-jected to test by both parties using the test method(s) specifiedin the product specification, or, alternatively, upon agreementby both parties, an independent laboratory may be selected forthe tests us

Certification16.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, thepurchaser shall be furnished certification that samples repre-senting each lot have been tested and inspected as directed inthe product specification and the requir

35、ements have been met.17. Test Report17.1 When specified in the contract or purchase order, areport of test results shall be furnished.18. Product Marking18.1 All shapes intended for fabrication shall be identifiedwith the producers brand, furnace charge, or other identifyingnumber.18.2 Ingots and in

36、got bars shall have a brand identificationbut need have no other number.19. Packaging and Package Marking19.1 Packaging:19.1.1 The product shall be separated by size and compo-sition and prepared for shipment by common carrier in such amanner to afford protection from the normal hazards oftransporta
