Scope*1.1 This specification2covers aluminum-alloy sand castingsdesigna

3、ted as shown in Table 1.1.2 This specification is for aluminum-alloy sand castingsused in general purpose applications. It may not address themechanical properties, integrity testing, and verification re-quired for highly loaded or safety critical applications.1.3 Alloy and temper designations are i

4、n accordance withANSI H35.1/H35.1M.1.4 Unless the order specifies the “M” specificationdesignation, the material shall be furnished to the inch-poundunits.1.5 For acceptance criteria for inclusion of new aluminumand aluminum alloys and their properties in this specification,see Annex A1 and Annex A2

5、.1.6 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineach system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, eachsystem shall be used independently of the other. Combiningvalues from the two systems may result in nonconformancewith

Ordering Information4.1 Orders for material under this specification shall includethe following information (1.4 and 1.5):4.1.1 This specific

Do not mix units.4.1.2 The quantity in either pieces or pounds kilograms,4.1.3 Alloy (Section 7 and

Quality Assurance5.1 Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchaseorder, the producer shall be res

29、ponsible for the performance ofall inspections and test requirements specified herein. Unlessdisapproved by the purchaser, the producer may use his own orany other suitable facilities for the performance of the inspec-tion and test requirements specified herein. The purchaser shallhave the right to

30、perform any of the inspections and tests setforth in this specification where such inspections are deemednecessary to confirm that the material conforms to prescribedrequirements.6. Manufacture6.1 The responsibility of furnishing castings that can be laidout and machined to the finished dimensions w

31、ithin thepermissible variations specified, as shown on the blueprints ordrawings, shall rest with the producer, except where patternequipment is furnished by the purchaser.7. Chemical Composition7.1 The Product shall conform to the chemical compositionlimits prescribed in Table 1. Conformance shall

32、be determinedby the producer by taking samples at the time castings arepoured in accordance with Practice E716 and analyzed inaccordance with Test Methods E607, E1251,orE34,orEN 14242. 47、established for each alloy, but in any case themaximum elapsed time shall not exceed 8 h.7.2 If it becomes necessary to analyze castings for confor-mance to chemical composition limits, the method used tosample castings for the determination of chemical compositionshall be in accordance with Practice B985.
