Materials and Manufacture5.1 The various molybdenum mill products covered by thisspecification shall be formed with the conventional extrusion,forging, or rolling equipment normally found in primaryferrous and nonferrous plant

The ingot metal for Molybde-num 360 and 365 and Molybdenum Alloys 363 and 366 isvacuum arc-melted in furnaces of a type suitable for reactive,refractory metals and for Molybdenum 361 and MolybdenumAlloy 364, the metal is consolidated by powder metallurgymethods.6. Chemical Composition6.1 The moly

16、 Check analysis tolerances do not broaden the specifiedheat analysis requirements but cover variations between labo-ratories in the measurement of chemical content.6.2.3 The manufacturer shall not ship material that isoutside the limits specified in Table 2 for the applicable type,with the exception

27、transverse direction to final working at testtemperatures between 65 and 85F (18 and 29C).7.2 Tension test specimens shall be prepared and tested inaccordance with Test Methods E 8 or E 345 for foil. Tensileproperties shall be determined using a strain rate of 0.002 to0.005 in./in.min (or mm/mmmin)
28、through 0.6 % offset and0.02 to 0.05 in/inmin (or mm/mmmin) to fracture.7.3 For sheet and strip, the bend test specimens shallwithstand being bent at a temperature between 65 and 85F (18and 29C) through an angle of 90 or more without fracture.The bend shall be made on a radius equal to that shown in
29、Table 3 for the applicable type. The bend test specimen shall beat least 0.5 in. (12.7 mm) wide and deburred. The speed of theram shall be 5 to 10 in. (127 to 254 mm)/min.7.4 For sheet ordered as drawing grade, ball punch defor-mation tests shall be performed in accordance with TestMethod E 643. Dra
30、wing grade sheet shall meet the require-ments of Fig. 2.8. Softening Temperature8.1 If specified, the material supplied under this specifica-tion shall have mechanical properties not lower than thoseshown in Table 1 after reheating in a protective atmosphere tothe following temperatures for a period

Permissible Variations in Dimensions9.1 Thickness tolerances on molybdenum and molybdenumalloy material covered by this specification shall be as specifiedin Table 4.9.2 Width tolerances shall be as agreed upon between themanufacturer and the purchaser. In general, shearing tolerancewill be 6
35、116 in. (61.6 mm) and slitting tolerance will be 6132in. (60.8 mm).9.3 Length and camber tolerances shall be as agreed uponbetween the manufacturer and the purchaser. In general, lengthand camber tolerances will show a maximum deviation of 6116in. (1.6 mm) per foot length.9.4 Flatness tolerances on

Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance10.1 Molybdenum and molybdenum alloy plate, sheet, strip,and foil shall be free of injurious external and internalimperfections of a nature that will interfere with the purposefor which it is intended.10.2 Material may be supplied
39、 with as rolled, as cleaned, asmachined, or as ground finish.10.3 The manufacturer shall be permitted to remove surfaceimperfections provided such removal does not reduce thedimensions below the minimum permitted by the tolerances forthat dimension.11. Sampling11.1 Care shall be exercised to ensure
40、that the sampleselected for testing is representative of the material and formand is not contaminated by the sampling procedure.12. Methods of Chemical Analysis12.1 The chemical composition enumerated in this specifi-cation shall in case of disagreement, be determined in accor-dance with the methods
41、 approved for referee purposes byASTM.3Where such methods are not available, methods ofanalysis as mutually agreed upon by the manufacturer and thepurchaser shall be employed.13. Rejection13.1 Material not conforming to this specification or toauthorized modifications shall be subject to rejection.
42、Unlessotherwise specified, rejected material may be returned to themanufacturer at the manufacturers expense unless the pur-chaser receives, within 4 weeks of notice of rejection, otherinstructions for disposition.14. Certification14.1 If requested, the manufacturer shall supply at leastthree copies
43、 of a report of the chemical analysis of each heat(Types 360, 363, 365, and 366) or powder metallurgy productfrom the powder lot (Types 361 and 364) represented in theshipment, and reports of the result of tests of each size of eachheat or powder lot to determine properties required in Sections7 and
44、 8.14.2 The report shall include the purchase order number,heat or powder lot number, this specification number, type andtemper condition, nominal thickness, and quantity and numberof items covered by the shipment.15. Product Marking15.1 Unless otherwise specified, each plate, sheet, or stripshall b
45、e legibly and conspicuously marked or tagged with thenumber of this specification, material type and temper condi-tion, heat or lot number, manufacturers identification, and thenominal thickness gage in inches. All markings must withstandordinary handling and shall be capable of removal withstandard
46、 cleaning solvents.15.2 Coiled sheet, strip, and foil shall be similarly marked atthe outside end of each coil.16. Packaging and Package Marking16.1 Unless otherwise specified, material purchased underthis specification must be packaged by box or other suitableprotective containers and shall be so m
