Scope1.1 This specification covers compact round concentric-lay-stranded conductors made from aluminum 1350
3、-H19 (extrahard) wires and round zinc-coated, aluminum-coated, oraluminum-clad steel core wires usually used in overhead lines.These conductors shall be constructed with one steel core wiresurrounded by one or more layers of helically-laid compactedor otherwise shaped aluminum wires (Explanatory Not

Ordering Information3.1 Orders for material under this specification shall includethe following information:3.1.1 Quantity of each size and stranding (Table 1),3.1.2 Conductor size: circula
16、r-mil area or AWG (Section 6,and Table 1),3.1.3 Steel wire coating or aluminum-clad (see 11.3),3.1.4 Special tension test, if required (see 15.3),3.1.5 Place of inspection (Section 16), and3.1.6 Packaging and Package Marking (Section 17).4. Joints4.1 Electric-butt welds, electric-butt, cold-upset we
17、lds, orcold-pressure welds in the individual round-drawn or shapedaluminum wires may be made during the stranding process. Noweld shall occur within 50 ft (15 m) of a weld in the same wireor in any other wire of the completed conductor.4.2 There shall be no joints of any kind made in the finishedcoa
18、ted, or aluminum-clad steel wires.5. Lay5.1 The preferred lay of the aluminum wires of aluminumconductors, steel-reinforced, having a single wire steel coreand one layer of aluminum wires is 14 times the outsidediameter of the conductor but the lay shall be not less than 13nor more than 16 times tha
19、t diameter.5.2 The preferred lay of the outside layer of aluminum wiresof aluminum conductors, steel-reinforced, having multiplelayers of aluminum wires is 12 times the outside diameter ofthe conductor but the lay shall be not less than 11 nor morethan 14 times that diameter.5.3 The preferred lay of
20、 the layer immediately beneath theoutside layer of aluminum wires of aluminum conductors,steel-reinforced, having multiple layers of aluminum wires is14 times the outside diameter of such layer but the lay shall benot less than 11 nor more than 17.5 times that diameter.5.4 The direction of lay of th
21、e outside layer of aluminumwires shall be right hand.5.5 The direction of lay shall be reversed in successivelayers.6. Construction6.1 The diameter of the steel core wire, the number ofaluminum wires, the aluminum cross-sectional area, the diam-eter and weight of the compact round concentric-lay-str
22、andedaluminum conductors, steel-reinforced, shall be as shown inTable 1.7. Rated Strength of Conductor7.1 The rated strength of a completed conductor shall betaken as the aggregate strength of the aluminum and steelcomponents, calculated as follows: The strength contributionof the aluminum wires sha
23、ll be taken as the percentage,according to the number of layers of aluminum wires, indicatedin Table 2, of the sum of the strengths of the 1350-H19 wires,calculated on the basis of the nominal wire diameter for thecorresponding noncompacted construction given in Specifica-tion B232/B232M and the app
24、ropriate specified minimumaverage tensile strength given in Specification B230/B230M.The strength contribution of the steel core shall be taken as96 % of the strength of the steel wire calculated from itsspecified nominal diameter and the appropriate specified mini-mum stress at 1 % extension given
25、in Specification B341/B341M, B498/B498M, B502,orB802M, whichever is appli-cable.7.2 Rated strength and breaking strength values shall berounded to three significant figures, in the final value only, inaccordance with Practice E29.7.3 Rated strength of conductors are given in Table 3.8. Density8.1 Fo

Mass and Electrical Resistance9.1 The mass and electrical resistance of a unit length ofs
32、tranded conductor are a function of the length of lay. Theapproximate mass and electrical resistance may be determinedusing an increment of 1.5 % for conductors composed of 1steel and 6 or 7 aluminum wires and an increment of 2 % forconductors composed of 1 steel and 18 aluminum wires. Whengreater a
33、ccuracy is desired, the increment based on the specificlay of the conductor may be calculated (Explanatory Note 4).9.2 In the calculation of the electrical resistance of acompleted conductor, coated steel wires may be included.9.3 The maximum electrical resistance of a unit length ofstranded conduct
34、or shall not exceed 102 % of the nominal dcresistance shown in Table 4 (Explanatory Note 6). When the dcresistance is measured at other than 20C, it is to be correctedby using the multiplying factor given in Table 5.9.4 For conductors to be used in covered or insulated wiresor cables dc resistance m
35、easurements may be used in lieu of themethod outlined in Section 12.10. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance10.1 The conductor shall be clean and free of imperfectionsnot consistent with good commercial practice.11. Requirements for Wires11.1 Before stranding and compacting, the round aluminumwire us
36、ed shall conform to the requirements of SpecificationB230/B230M.11.2 Aluminum wires shaped before stranding shall meetthe requirements of Specification B230/B230M, except forshape, tensile and elongation requirements, and diametertolerances. The minimum tensile and elongation requirementsshall be 96
37、 % of those for round wires of the same nominalarea, provided the completed conductor is capable of meetingthe requirements of Section 7. The area tolerances for theshaped wires shall be such that the finished conductor con-forms to Section 12.11.3 Before stranding, the steel core wire used shall co
38、n-form to the requirements of Specification B341/B341M, B498/B498M, B502,orB802M, whichever is applicable.12. Variation in Area12.1 The cross-sectional area of the aluminum in wires of acompact round ACSR shall be not less than 98 % of thecross-sectional area as specified in column 1 of Table 1. The
39、manufacturer shall determine the cross-sectional area by TestMethod B263. In applying this method, the increment inweight resulting from stranding may be the applicable valuespecified in 9.1 or may be calculated from the measureddimensions of the sample under test. In case of questionregarding area
40、compliance, the actual mass increment due tostranding shall be calculated.13. Variation in Diameter13.1 The diameter of the compact round ACSR shall varyby not more than +12 % from the diameter specified in Table1.14. Sampling14.1 The aluminum cross-sectional area (Section 12) andthe conductor diame
41、ter (Section 13) shall be measured on asample of completed conductor. At least one sample shall betested for each size of conductor on each order of quantitiesfrom 5000 to 100 000 ft (1500 to 30 000 m) and oneadditional sample tested from each 100 000 ft thereafter.15. Mechanical and Electrical Test
42、s15.1 Tests for mechanical and electrical properties of alu-minum wires composing the conductors shall be made beforestranding (Explanatory Note 5).15.2 Tests for the mechanical and electrical properties of thesteel core wire shall be made before, but not after stranding,unless otherwise agreed by t
43、he manufacturer and the purchaseras provided in 15.3 (Explanatory Note 5).15.3 At the option of the purchaser, at the time of placingthe order, tension and elongation tests of wire before strandingmay be waived, and the completed conductor may be tested asa unit. The minimum breaking strength of con
44、ductors so testedshall be not less than the rated strength if failure occurs in thefree length at least 1 in. (25 mm) beyond the end of eithergripping device, or shall be not less than 95 % of the ratedstrength if failure occurs inside, or within 1 in. of the end of,either gripping device. The free
45、length between grips of the testspecimen shall be not less than 24 in. (600 mm), and care shallbe taken to ensure that the wires in the conductor are evenlygripped during the test (Explanatory Note 3).16. Inspection16.1 Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchaseorder, the manufacturer sh
46、all be responsible for the perfor-mance of all inspection and test requirements specified.16.2 All inspections and tests shall be made at the place ofmanufacture unless otherwise agreed to between the manufac-turer and the purchaser at the time of purchase.16.3 The manufacturer shall afford the insp

Packaging and Package Marking17.1 Package sizes and kind of package, reels, or coils shallbe agreed upon between the ma
49、nufacturer and the purchaser.17.2 The conductors shall be protected against damage inordinary handling and shipping.17.3 There shall be only one length of conductor on a reel.17.4 The net mass, length, size, kind of conductor,stranding, kind of coating, class of zinc coating (if used), andany other necessary identification shall be marked on a tagattached to the end of the conductor inside the package. Thissame information, together with the purchase order number,the manufacturers serial number (if any), and all shippingmarks and other information required by the
