Scope*1.1 This specification covers aluminum-al
3、loy pipe and ex-truded tube in those selected alloys shown in Table 1 andtempers shown in Table 2, and in those standard sizes shown inTables 3 and 4, as well as in other nonstandard sizes as agreedupon between the purchaser and supplier. Such pipe and tube isintended for use in structural applicati
4、ons such as highway andbridge rails, chain-link fence posts, handrails, sign structures,awning supports, lighting brackets, etc. Structural pipe andtube is not intended for fluid-carrying applications involvingpressure.NOTE 1For drawn seamless tube used in pressure applications seeSpecifications B 2

46、 alloy,temper, and nominal dimensions traceable to a heat-treat lot orlots, and subjected to inspection at one time.8. Chemical Composition8.1 Limits:8.1.1 The material shall conform to the chemical composi-tion limits prescribed in Table 1. The producer shall determineconformance by analyzing sampl
47、es taken when the ingots arepoured, or analyzing samples taken from the finished orsemi-finished product. If the producer has determined thechemical composition of the material during the course ofmanufacture, he shall not be required to sample and analyze thefinished product.NOTE 2It is standard pr
48、actice in the North American aluminumindustry to determine conformance to the chemical composition limitsprior to further processing of ingots into wrought products. Due to thecontinuous nature of the process, it is not practical to keep a specific ingotanalysis identified with a specific quantity o
49、f finished material.8.2 Number of SamplesThe number of samples taken fordetermination of chemical composition shall be as follows:8.2.1 When samples are taken at the time the ingots arepoured, at least one sample shall be taken for each group ofingots poured simultaneously from the same source of moltenmetal.8.2.2 When samples are taken from the finished or semi-finished product, a sample shall be taken to represent each4000 lb (1814 kg), or fraction thereof, of material in the lot,except
