United States16. Chemical Composition6.1 The cladding shall be, unless otherwise specified, acoppe
15、r conforming in chemical composition to any of thoseestablished in Specification B152/B152M.6.2 The core shall be a stainless steel conforming inchemical composition to any of those established by Specifi-cation A240/A240M. Unless otherwise specified, stainlesssteel UNS Alloy No. S43000 shall be sup
16、plied.6.3 The cladding ratio shall be 10/80/10, copper/stainlesssteel/copper, unless otherwise specified.7. Temper7.1 The standard temper for the product described in thisspecification is given in Table 1, unless otherwise specified.7.1.1 Annealed temper O61.8. Grain Size8.1 Although no minimum grai
17、n size is prescribed forannealed material, it shall be fully recrystallized in bothcladding and core.9. Mechanical Property Requirements9.1 Tensile Strength Requirements:9.1.1 Product furnished under this specification shall con-form to the tensile requirements prescribed in Table 1 whentested in ac
18、cordance with Test Methods E8/E8M.9.1.2 Acceptance or rejection based upon mechanical prop-erties shall depend only on tensile properties.9.1.3 The mechanical properties of material in tempersother than annealed and with cladding ratios other than10/80/10 shall be as agreed upon between purchaser an
19、dsupplier.9.2 Rockwell Hardness Requirement:9.2.1 The approximate Rockwell hardness values given inTable 1 are for general information and assistance in testing,and shall not be used as a basis for product rejection.9.2.2 Copper should be etched off with a suitable reagentprior to test.NOTE 1The Roc
20、kwell Hardness test offers a quick and convenientmethod of checking for general conformity to the specification require-ments for temper and tensile strength.10. Dimensions and Permissible Variations10.1 Unless closer tolerances are specified in the contract orpurchase order, the product furnished s

Table 8for square-sheared metal.10.6 Cladding RatioCladding ratios shall be within 610% of nominal; method of test shall be metallurgical microsec-tion of at least three samples per lot.11. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance11.1 The material shall be free of defects, but blemishes
23、 ofa nature that do not interfere with the intended application areacceptable.12. Sampling12.1 SamplingThe lot size, portion size, and selection ofsample pieces shall be as follows:12.1.1 Lot SizeAn inspection lot shall be 10 000 lb(4550 kg), or less material of the same mill form, alloy, temper,and
24、 thickness, subject to inspection at one time.12.1.2 Portion SizeA portion shall be four or more piecesselected as to be representative of each lot. If the lot consists ofless than four pieces, a sample shall be taken from each piece.12.1.2.1 Chemical AnalysisA sample for chemical analy-sis shall no
25、t be taken. The copper sheet or strip that is used asthe cladding for this product was sampled and tested asprescribed in Specification B152/B152M. The stainless steelstrip that is used as the core in this product was sampled andtested as prescribed in Specification A240/A240M.12.1.2.2 Samples for A
26、ll Other TestsSamples for all othertests shall be taken from the sample portion in 12.1.2 and be ofa convenient size to accommodate the test and comply with therequirements of the appropriate ASTM Product Standards andTest Methods.13. Number of Tests and Retests13.1 Test:13.1.1 Grain Size and Tensil
27、e StrengthResults shall bereported as the average obtained from at least two testspecimens, each taken from a separate test piece wherepossible.13.2 Retest:13.2.1 When requested by the manufacturer or supplier, aretest shall be permitted when results of tests obtained by thepurchaser fail to conform

Inspection17.1 The manufacturer, or supplier, shall inspect and makethe tests necessary to verify the furnished product conforms tospecification requirements.17.2 Source inspection of the product by the purchaser maybe agreed upon by the manufactur
42、er, or supplier, and thepurchaser as part of the purchase order. In such case, the natureof the facilities needed to satisfy the inspector, representing thepurchaser, that the product is being furnished in accordancewith the specification shall be included in the agreement. Alltesting and inspection
43、 shall be conducted so as not to interfereunnecessarily with the operation of the works.17.3 When mutually agreed upon by the manufacturer, orsupplier, and purchaser shall conduct the final inspectionsimultaneously.18. Rejection and Rehearing18.1 Rejection:18.1.1 Product that fails to conform to the
44、 specificationrequirements when tested by the purchaser or purchasers agentshall be subject to rejection.18.1.2 Rejection shall be reported to the manufacturer orsupplier promptly. In addition, a written notification of rejec-tion shall follow.18.1.3 In case of dissatisfaction with the results of th
45、e testupon which rejection is based, the manufacturer, or supplier,shall have the option to make claim for a rehearing.18.2 Rehearing:18.2.1 As a result of product rejection, the manufacturer, orsupplier, shall have the option to make claim for a retest to beconducted by the manufacturer, or supplie
46、r, and the purchaser.Samples of the rejected product shall be taken in accordancewith the product specification and subjected to test by bothparties using the test method(s) specified in the productspecification, or alternately, upon agreement of both parties, anindependent laboratory may be selecte
47、d for the test(s) using thetest method(s) specified in the product specification.19. Certification19.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, thepurchaser shall be furnished certification that samples repre-senting each lot have been tested and inspected as directed inthis specification a
48、nd requirements have been met.20. Test Report20.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, areport of test results shall be furnished.21. Packaging and Package Marking21.1 Packaging:21.1.1 The product shall be separated by size, composition,temper, and cladding ratio, and prepared for shipm
49、ent bycommon carrier, in such a manner to afford protection from thenormal hazards of transportation.21.2 Package Marking:21.2.1 Each shipping unit shall be legibly marked with thepurchase order number, metal or alloy designation, temper,size, shape, gross and net weight, and name of supplier.21.2.2 When specified in the contract or purchase order, theproduct specification number shall be shown.22.
