Scope *1.1 This specification covers aluminum-alloy rolled fla

3、ttread plate, mill-finish, with a raised pattern on one side, in thealloy, tempers, and thicknesses shown in Table 1 and Table 2Table 3.1.2 Alloy and temper designation are in accordance withANSI H35.1 H35.1M. The equivalent Unified NumberingSystem alloy designation are those of Table 1 preceded by

Responsibility for Quality Assurance5.1 Responsibility for Inspection a

20、nd TestsUnless other-wise specified in the contract or purchase order, the producer isresponsible for the performance of all inspection and testrequirements specified herein. The producer may use his ownor any other suitable facilities for the performance of theinspection and test requirements speci

21、fied herein, unless dis-approved by the purchaser in the order or at the time of contractsigning. The purchaser shall have the right to perform any ofthe inspections and tests set forth in this specification wheresuch inspections are deemed necessary to assure that materialconforms to prescribed req

32、spection lot shallconsist of an identifiable quantity of material of the same millform, alloy, temper, and thickness subjected to inspection atone time.6. General Quality6.1 Unless otherwise specified, all tread plate shall besupplied in the mill finish and shall be uniform as defined bythe requirem

33、ents of this specification and shall be commer-cially sound. Any requirement not so covered is subject tonegotiation between the producer and the purchaser.6.2 Each piece shall be examined to determine conformanceto this specification with respect to general quality and identi-fication marking. On a

34、pproval of the purchaser, however, asystem of statistical quality control may be used for suchexaminations.7. Chemical Composition7.1 LimitsThe tread plate shall conform to the chemicalcomposition limits specified in Table 1. Conformance shall bedetermined by analyzing samples taken at the time the

35、ingotsare cast, or samples taken from the finished or semifinishedproduct. If the chemical composition of the material has beendetermined during the course of manufacture, additional sam-pling and analysis of the finished product shall not be neces-sary.NOTE 2It is standard practice in the United St

36、ates aluminum industryto determine conformance to the chemical composition limits prior tofurther processing of ingots into wrought products. Due to the continuousnature of the process, it is not practical to keep a specific ingot analysisidentified with a specific quantity of finished material.7.2

37、Number of SamplesThe number of samples taken forthe determination of chemical composition shall be as follows:7.2.1 When samples are taken at the time the ingots are cast,at least one sample shall be taken for each group of ingots castsimultaneously from the same source of molten metal.7.2.2 When sa

38、mples are taken from the finished or semifin-ished product, a sample shall be taken to represent each 4000lb 2000 kg or fraction thereof, of material in the lot, exceptthat not more than one sample shall be required per piece.7.3 Methods of SamplingSamples for determination ofchemical composition sh

39、all be taken in accordance with one ofthe following methods:7.3.1 Samples for chemical analysis shall be taken bydrilling, sawing, milling, turning, or clipping a representativepiece or pieces to obtain a prepared sample of not less than 75g. Sampling shall be in accordance with Practice E 55.7.3.2

40、Sampling for spectrochemical analysis shall be inaccordance with Practices E 716. Samples for other methods ofanalysis shall be suitable for the form of material beinganalyzed and the type of analytical method used.7.4 Methods of AnalysisThe determination of chemicalcomposition shall be made in acco

41、rdance with suitable chemi-cal (Test Methods E 34), or spectrochemical (Test MethodsE 227, E 607, and E 1251), methods. Other methods may beused only when no published ASTM method is available. Incase of dispute, the method of analysis shall be agreed uponbetween the producer and purchaser.8. Heat T

42、reatment8.1 Producer or supplier heat treatment for the applicabletempers of alloy 6061 in Table 2 Table 3 shall be inaccordance with Practice B 918.9.
