Materials and Manufacture5.1 Materials covered by this specification shall be madefrom ingots in accordance with Specification B 652/B 652M.5.2 The various niobium-hafnium alloy products covered bythis specifica

12、tion are formed with the conventional extrusion,forging, and rolling equipment normally available in metalworking plants.6. Chemical Composition6.1 The chemical composition of niobium-hafnium alloyingots and billets for conversion to finished products coveredby this specification shall conform to th

16、be consideredthe chemical analysis for products supplied under this specifi-cation.6.3 When specified in the purchase order, the manufacturershall test the product for elements specified in Table 2. Theresults of the tests shall meet the limits shown in Table 2.7. Temper Designations7.1 Unless other

17、wise stated, the materials supplied underthis specification shall be in the annealed condition, defined asat least 90 % recrystallized.7.2 Other temper designations, such as cold-worked temperor stress-relieved temper can be specified as agreed uponbetween the purchaser and the manufacturer at the t

18、ime ofpurchase.8. Mechanical Requirements8.1 Materials in the annealed condition supplied under thisspecification shall conform to the requirements for mechanicalproperties as specified in Table 3. Unless otherwise specified inthe purchase order, the materials shall conform to the require-ments for

19、room temperature mechanical properties. The pur-chaser may specify elevated temperature mechanical propertiesat the time of purchase.9. Permissible Variations9.1 Dimensional tolerancesTolerances on niobium-hafnium alloy products covered by this specification shall be asprescribed in Table 4.9.2 Flat

20、ness tolerance for sheet and plate products suppliedunder this specification shall be 6 % maximum, as determinedby the following equation (see Fig. 1):Flatness, % 5 H/L! 3 100 (1)where:H = maximum vertical distance between a flat referencesurface and the lower surface of the sheet, andL = minimum ho

21、rizontal distance between the highestpoint on the sheet and the point of contact with a flatreference surface. (The method for taking measure-ments for calculation of sheet flatness is shown in Fig.1. However, a value of H less than132 in. 0.8 mmshall not be cause for rejection.)9.3 Quantity or Weig

22、htFor orders up to 100 ft 30 m, themanufacturer may overship by 20 %. For orders up to 1000 lb450 kg or 1000 ft 300 m, the manufacturer may overship by10 %. The permissible overshipment for orders larger than thisquantity shall be negotiated at the time of purchase.10. Quality and Finish10.1 Niobium

23、-hafnium alloy product shall be free of inju-rious external and internal imperfections of a nature that willinterfere with the purpose for which it was intended. Materialmay be finished as forged, rolled, extruded, swaged, drawn; ina cleaned, machined, or ground condition. The manufacturershall be p

24、ermitted to remove minor surface imperfectionsprovided such removal does not reduce the dimensions belowthe minimum permitted by the tolerances in accordance withSection 9.10.2 Test methods for these defects and standards of accept-ability shall be as agreed upon between the purchaser and themanufac

25、turer at the time of purchase.11. Retests11.1 If any sample or specimen exhibits obvious surfacecontamination or improper preparation disqualifying it as atruly representative sample, it shall be discarded and a newsample or specimen substituted.11.2 In case of failure, two additional specimens shal

26、l beretested. If both retest specimens conform to this specification,the original values shall be discarded and the material ac-cepted.11.3 If the results of the tests are not in conformance withthe requirements of this specification, the lot may be reworkedat the option of the manufacturer. The lot

27、 shall be acceptable ifthe results of all tests, after reworking, conform to thisspecification.12. Significance of Numerical Limits12.1 The following applies to all specified limits in thisstandard for purposes of determining conformance with thisspecification. The observed value or a calculated val

The samples shall be taken soas to be representative of the finished products.13.2 Care shall be exercised to ensure that the sampleselected for testing is

31、representative of the material, and that itis not contaminated by the sampling procedure. If there is anyquestion relating to the sampling techniques or analysisthereof, the methods of sampling and analysis shall be asagreed upon between the manufacturer and the purchaser.14. Test Methods14.1 The te

32、nsile limits shall apply to samples taken in eitherthe longitudinal or transverse direction of processing.14.2 Room Temperature Tension TestConduct room tem-perature tension tests in accordance with Test Methods E 8.Determine the yield strength by the 0.2 % offset method. Smallsize (1-in. 25-mm) gag

33、e length specimens, proportional to thestandard specimen, can be used. Determine tensile propertiesusing a strain rate of 0.003 to 0.007 in./in.min mm/mmminthrough the yield point. After the yield strength has beenexceeded, increase the cross-head speed to approximately 0.05in./in.min mm/mmmin to fa

34、ilure.14.3 Elevated Temperature Tension TestsConduct el-evated temperature tension tests in accordance with TestMethods E 21 at the temperature shown in Table 3. One inch25 mm gage lengths can be used. Strain rates shall be agreedupon by purchaser and manufacturer.14.4 Chemical testsConduct the chem

35、ical analyses by thestandard techniques normally used by the manufacturer.15. Inspection15.1 The manufacturer shall inspect the material covered bythis specification prior to shipment.15.2 If so specified on the purchase order, the purchaser orhis representative may witness the testing and inspectio

36、n of thematerial at the place of manufacture. In such cases, thepurchaser shall state in his purchase order which tests hedesires to witness. When the inspector representing the purchaser doesappear at the designated time and place, the manufacturer shallafford him, without charge, all reasonable facilities to see thatthe material is being furnished in accordance with this speci-fication. This inspection

46、shall be conducted so as not tointerfere unnecessarily with production operations.16. Rejection and Rehearing16.1 Material that fails to conform to the requirements ofthis specification may be rejected. Rejection should be reportedto the producer or supplier promptly and in writing. In case ofdissat

47、isfaction with the results of the test, the producer orsupplier may make claim for a rehearing.17. Referee17.1 In the event of disagreement between the manufacturerand the purchaser of the conformance of the material to therequirements of this specification, or any special tests specifiedby the purc

48、haser, a mutually acceptable referee shall performthe tests in question. The results of the referees testing shall beused in determining conformance of the material to thisspecification.18. Certification18.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, aproducers or suppliers certification shal

49、l be furnished to thepurchaser that the material was manufactured, sampled, tested,and inspected in accordance with this specification and hasbeen found to meet the requirements. When specified in thepurchase order or contract, a report of the test results shall befurnished.19. Product Marking19.1 Each coil of foil, sheet, strip, or plate shall be markedor tagged legibly and conspicuously with the number of thisspecification; temper; heat number; manu
