Scope1.1 This specification covers hafnium alloyed niobium foil,sheet, strip, and plate.1.2 The material covered by this specifica

3、tion is R04295,niobium-base alloy containing approximately 10 % hafniumand 1 % titanium.1.3 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineach system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, eachsystem shall be used independent

Terminology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 foil, na flat product less than 6 in. 150 mm wideand less than 0.005 in. 0.13 mm in thickness.3.1.2 lot, na lot is defined as that material produced fromone ingot and heat-treated at the same conditions. Unlessotherwise agreed between manufacturer and purchaser, a

8、lotshall be limited to the product of an 8 h period for finalcontinuous anneal or to a single furnace load for a final batchanneal3.1.3 plate, na flat product 6 in. 150 mm or more inwidth and more than 0.187 in. 4.8 mm in thickness.3.1.4 sheet, na flat product 6 in. 150 mm or more inwidth and from 0

9、.005 in. 0.13 mm to 0.187 in. 4.8 mm inthickness.3.1.5 strip, na flat product, may be supplied in coil, lessthan 6 in. 150 mm wide and from 0.005 in. 0.13 mm to0.187 in. 4.8 mm in thickness.4. 12、terials and Manufacture5.1 Materials covered by this specification shall be madefrom ingots in accordance with Specification B652/B652M.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of Committee B10 on Reactive andRefractory Metals and Alloys and is the direct responsibility of SubcommitteeB10.03 on

15、his specification are formed with the conventional extrusion,forging, and rolling equipment normally available in metalworking plants.6. Chemical Composition6.1 The chemical composition of niobium-hafnium alloyingots and billets for conversion to finished products coveredby this specification shall

16、conform to the requirements in Table1. Analysis for elements, not listed in Table 1 and not normallyexpected in niobium-hafnium alloy, shall not be requiredunless specified at time of purchase.6.2 The manufacturers ingot analysis shall be consideredthe chemical analysis for products supplied under t

17、his specifi-cation.6.3 When specified in the purchase order, the manufacturershall test the product for elements specified in Table 2. Theresults of the tests shall meet the limits shown in Table 2.7. Temper Designations7.1 Unless otherwise stated, the materials supplied underthis specification shal

18、l be in the annealed condition, defined asat least 90 % recrystallized.7.2 Other temper designations, such as cold-worked temperor stress-relieved temper may be specified in the purchaseorder.8. Mechanical Requirements8.1 Materials in the annealed condition supplied under thisspecification shall con

19、form to the requirements for mechanicalproperties as specified in Table 3. Unless otherwise specified inthe purchase order, the materials shall conform to the require-ments for room temperature mechanical properties. The pur-chaser may specify elevated temperature mechanical propertiesat the time of

20、 purchase.9. Permissible Variations9.1 Dimensional tolerancesTolerances on niobium-hafnium alloy products covered by this specification shall be asprescribed in Table 4.9.2 Flatness tolerance for sheet and plate products suppliedunder this specification shall be 6 % maximum, as determinedby the foll

21、owing equation (see Fig. 1):Flatness, % 5 H/L! 3 100 (1)where:H = maximum vertical distance between a flat referencesurface and the lower surface of the sheet, andL = minimum horizontal distance between the highestpoint on the sheet and the point of contact with a flatreference surface. (The method

22、for taking measure-ments for calculation of sheet flatness is shown in Fig.1. However, a value of H less than132 in. 0.8 mmshall not be cause for rejection.)9.3 Quantity or WeightFor orders up to 100 ft 30 m, themanufacturer may overship by 20 %. For orders up to 1000 lb450 kg or 1000 ft 300 m, the

23、manufacturer may overship by10 %. The permissible overshipment for orders larger than thisquantity shall be negotiated at the time of purchase.10. Quality and Finish10.1 Niobium-hafnium alloy product shall be free of inju-rious external and internal imperfections of a nature that willinterfere with

24、the purpose for which it was intended. Materialmay be finished as forged, rolled, extruded, swaged, drawn; ina cleaned, machined, or ground condition. The manufacturershall be permitted to remove minor surface imperfectionsprovided such removal does not reduce the dimensions belowthe minimum permitt

Retests11.1 If any sample or specimen exhibits obvious surfacecontamination or improper preparation disqualifying it as atruly representative sample, it shall be discarded and a newsample or specimen substituted.11.2 In case of failure, two additional specimens shall beretested. If both

30、retest specimens conform to this specification,the original values shall be discarded and the material ac-cepted.11.3 If the results of the tests are not in conformance withthe requirements of this specification, the lot may be reworkedat the option of the manufacturer. The lot shall be acceptable i

37、4/B654M 10312. Significance of Numerical Limits12.1 The following applies to all specified limits in thisstandard for purposes of determining conformance with thisspecification. The observed value or a calculated value shall berounded off “to the nearest unit” in the last right-hand digitused in exp

38、ressing the specification limit, in accordance withthe rounding-off method of Practice E29.13. Sampling13.1 Samples shall be taken from the material to determineconformity to this specification. The samples shall be taken soas to be representative of the finished products.13.2 Care shall be exercise

39、d to ensure that the sampleselected for testing is representative of the material, and that itis not contaminated by the sampling procedure. If there is anyquestion relating to the sampling techniques or analysisthereof, the methods of sampling and analysis shall be asagreed upon between the manufac

40、turer and the purchaser.14. Test Methods14.1 The tensile limits shall apply to samples taken in eitherthe longitudinal or transverse direction of processing.14.2 Room Temperature Tension TestConduct room tem-perature tension tests in accordance with Test Methods E8.Determine the yield strength by th

41、e 0.2 % offset method. Smallsize (1-in. 25-mm) gage length specimens, proportional to thestandard specimen, can be used. Determine tensile propertiesusing a strain rate of 0.003 to 0.007 in./in./min mm/mm/minthrough the yield point. After the yield strength has beenexceeded, increase the cross-head

42、speed to approximately 0.05in./in./min mm/mm/min to failure.14.3 Elevated Temperature Tension TestsConduct el-evated temperature tension tests in accordance with TestMethods E21 at the temperature shown in Table 3. One inch25 mm gage lengths can be used. Strain rates shall be agreedupon by purchaser

43、 and manufacturer.14.4 Chemical TestsConduct the chemical analyses by thestandard techniques normally used by the manufacturer. GuideE2626 may be used as a guide for chemical analysis tech-niques.15. Inspection15.1 The manufacturer shall inspect the material covered bythis specification prior to shi

44、pment.15.2 If so specified on the purchase order, the purchaser orhis representative may witness the testing and inspection of thematerial at the place of manufacture. In such cases, thepurchaser shall state in his purchase order which tests hedesires to witness. The manufacturer shall give ample no

45、tice tothe purchaser as to the time and place of the designated test. Ifthe purchasers representative does not present himself at theagreed upon time for the testing, and if no new date is agreedupon, the manufacturer shall consider the requirement for thepurchasers inspection at the place of manufa

46、cture to bewaived. When the inspector representing the purchaser doesappear at the designated time and place, the manufacturer shallafford him, without charge, all reasonable facilities to see thatthe material is being furnished in accordance with this speci-fication. This inspection shall be conduc

47、ted so as not tointerfere unnecessarily with production operations.16. Rejection and Rehearing16.1 Material that fails to conform to the requirements ofthis specification may be rejected. Rejection should be reportedto the producer or supplier promptly and in writing. In case ofdissatisfaction with

48、the results of the test, the producer orsupplier may make claim for a rehearing.17. Referee17.1 In the event of disagreement between the manufacturerand the purchaser of the conformance of the material to therequirements of this specification, or any special tests specifiedby the purchaser, a mutual

49、ly acceptable referee shall performthe tests in question. The results of the referees testing shall beused in determining conformance of the material to thisspecification.18. Certification18.1 A producers or suppliers certification shall be fur-nished to the purchaser that the material was manufactured,sampled, tested, and inspected in accordance with this speci-fication and has been found to meet the requirements.
