、Designation: B 683 01 (Reapproved 2006)Standard Specification forPure Palladium Electrical Contact Material1This standard is issued under the fixed designation B 683; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last
、 revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the Department of Defense.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers palladium in t
、he form of rod, wire, strip, and sheet material for electrical contacts.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. The metric equivalents of inch-pound unitsmay be approximate.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated
、 with its use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to become familiarwith all hazards including those identified in the appropriateMaterial Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for this product/materialas provided by the manufacturer, to establish appropriatesafety and health practices, and det

、on4.1 Material produced under this specification shall meet therequirements of chemical composition prescribed in Table 1.NOTE 1The chemical requirements for unfabricated palladium (re-fined material) are covered in Specification B 589.4.2 By agreement between the purchaser and the manufac-turer, an
、alysis may be required and limits established forelements or compounds not specified in the table of chemicalcomposition.5. Mechanical Requirements5.1 The contract or order may specify ultimate tensilestrength, elongation, microhardness (Knoop or Vickers), hard-ness (Rockwell or Rockwell Superficial
、), or a combination ofthese mechanical properties as temper criterion. If the contractor order does not specify a temper criterion, then the criterionfor temper designation will be ultimate tensile strength andelongation.5.2 Mechanical properties shall conform to the listings ofTable 2.5.3 Since it
、is not always possible to tension test some partsand shapes, the user and supplier should reach an agreementwith respect to the type of hardness tests and the acceptablerange that should be applicable. See Table 3 for typicalhardness values.5.4 All test specimens shall be full size when practical.5.
、5 All tests shall be conducted at room temperature, 65 to85F (18 to 29C).6. General Requirements6.1 The provisions of Specification B 476 shall apply to allmaterials produced to this specification.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee B02 onNonferrous Metals and Alloys and
