United States14.1.8 Purchaser InspectionIf purchaser wishes to witnesstests or inspection of material at place of manufacture, thepurchase order must so st

15、ate indicating which tests or inspec-tions are to be witnessed (Section 14).5. Material and Manufacture5.1 Tube shall be made from flat-rolled alloy by an auto-matic welding process with no addition of filler metal. Subse-quent to welding and prior to final annealing, the material shallbe cold-worke

16、d in either the weld metal only or both weld andbase metal.5.2 Tube shall be furnished with oxide removed. Whenbright annealing is used, descaling is not necessary.6. Chemical Composition6.1 The material shall conform to the composition limitsspecified in Table 1.6.2 If a product (check) analysis is

17、 performed by thepurchaser, the material shall conform to the product (check)analysis variations in Table 2.7. Mechanical and Other Properties7.1 Mechanical PropertiesThe material shall conform tothe mechanical properties specified in Table 3.7.2 Flattening TestA section of tube not less than 4 in.(

18、102 mm) in length shall be capable of withstanding, withoutcracking, flattening under a load applied gradually at roomtemperature until the distance between the platens is five timesthe wall thickness. The weld shall be positioned 90 from thedirection of the applied flattening force.7.2.1 Superficia

19、l ruptures resulting from surface imperfec-tions shall not be a cause for rejection.7.3 Flange TestA section of tube shall be capable ofhaving a flange turned over at a right angle to the body of thetube without through-wall cracking. The width of the flangeshall not be less than 15 % of the tube di

20、ameter.7.4 Nondestructive Test RequirementsTube shall be sub-jected to nondestructive tests (see 13.2) at the manufacturersoption.7.4.1 For ultrasonic testing, a longitudinal calibration notchshall be made on the outside diameter and inside diameter. Thedepth of the notch shall not exceed 1212 % of

21、the specified wallthickness of the material or 0.004 in. (0.10 mm), whichever isgreater. Place the notch in the weld if visible.7.4.2 Acceptance and RejectionMaterial producing a sig-nal equal to or greater than the calibration imperfections shallbe subject to rejection.7.4.2.1 Test signals produced

22、 by imperfections that cannotbe identified or produced by cracks or crack-like imperfectionsshall result in rejection of the tube, subject to rework and retest.To be accepted, the material shall pass the same electric test towhich it was originally subjected provided that the dimensionalrequirements

23、 are met.7.4.2.2 If the imperfection is judged as injurious, the tubeshall be rejected but may be reconditioned and retestedproviding the dimensional requirements are met. To beaccepted, retested material shall meet the original electric testrequirements.7.4.2.3 If the imperfection is explored to th

Dimensions and Permissible Variations8.1 Diameter and Wall ThicknessOutside diameter andnominal wall thickness shall not exceed the permissible varia-tions prescribed in Table 4.8.1.1 Material having a specifi

30、ed wall thickness that is 3 %,or less, of the outside diameter cannot be straightened properlywithout a certain amount of ovality resulting in the diameter.The limits to this ovality are stated in Footnote B to Table 4.8.2 StraightnessMaterial shall be reasonably straight andfree of bends or kinks.8

Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance9.1 The material shall be uniform in quality and temper,smooth, commercially straight, and free of injurious imperfec-tions.10. 37、tion.12.1.1 Whenever possible, all material shall be tested in fulltubular size. When testing in full tubular size is not possible,longitudinal strip specimens shall be used. In the event ofdisagreement when full tubular testing is not possible, alongitudinal strip specimen with reduced gage length

38、ascontained in Test Methods E8 shall be used.13. 48、examination when the material issubmerged and is under pressure. Examine the full length ofmaterial for leaks. If any piece shows leaks during the test,reject it.13.2.3 Electric TestGive each tube an electric test inaccordance with either Practice E213 or Practice E571. Foreddy-current testing, the

49、calibration tube shall contain, at theoption of the producer, any of the following discontinuities toestablish a minimum sensitivity level for rejection. The dis-continuity shall be placed in the weld if visible.13.2.3.1 Drilled HoleDrill a hole, not larger than 0.031-in.(0.79-mm) diameter radially and completely through the wall,taking care to avoid distortion of the material while drilling.13.2.3.2 Transverse Tangential NotchUsing a round file ortool with a14-in.
