Materials and Manufacture6.1 MaterialThe material of manufacture shall be cast-ings of the copper alloys listed in Table 1, as specified in thepurchase order or contract, and of such purity and soundness asto be suitable for the products prescri

19、bed herein.6.2 ManufactureThe product shall be manufactured bycasting and thermal treatment to meet the properties specified.7. Chemical Composition7.1 The castings shall conform to the chemical compositionrequirements prescribed in Table 2 for the Copper Alloy UNSNumber designations specified in th

20、e ordering information.7.2 These composition limits do not preclude the presenceof other elements. Limits may be established for unnamedelements by agreement between manufacturer or supplier andpurchaser.7.3 Copper is customarily given as remainder but may betaken as the difference between the sum o

21、f all elementsanalyzed and 100 %.7.4 When all elements in Table 2 are analyzed, their sumshall be 99.5 % minimum.7.5 It is recognized that residual elements may be present incast copper-base alloys. Analysis shall be made for residualelements only when specified in the purchase order (Specifi-cation

22、 B824).8. Temper8.1 The standard tempers are listed as follows:8.1.1 TF00Cast, solution heat treated and precipitationheat treated.8.1.2 M01As sand cast.8.1.3 Special or non-standard tempers are subject to nego-tiation between the supplier and purchaser. Standard temperdesignations are in accordance

23、 with Classification B601.9. Precipitation Heat Treatment9.1 For the purpose of determining conformance to theappropriate requirement in Table 3, the castings and testspecimens shall be precipitation heat-treated at a uniformtemperature from the solution heat-treated condition. Solutionheat-treatmen

24、t and precipitation heat-treatments are listed inTable 4. Other treatment times and temperatures may bepreferable for end products made from this material.9.2 Special combinations of properties such as increasedductility, electrical conductivity, dimensional accuracy, andendurance life may be obtain

25、ed by special precipitation heat-treatments. The mechanical requirements of Table 3 do notapply to such special heat-treatments. Specific test require-ments as needed shall be agreed upon between the manufac-turer or supplier and purchaser of the end product.10. Mechanical Property Requirements10.1

26、When tension tests are required, separately cast test-barspecimens shall be used to determine mechanical propertiesand shall meet the requirements shown in Table 3 in the as castor solution heat-treated and precipitation heat-treated condi-tion.11. Purchases for U. S. Government11.1 When specified i

27、n the contract or purchase order,product purchased for an agency of the U. 36、castings produced from onefurnace melt or crucible melt.13.1.2 When two or more furnace melts or crucible melts, orboth, are used to charge a ladle for pouring, the castingsproduced therefrom shall constitute a lot.13.1.3 A lot may consist of such groups of melts as agreedupon by the manufacturer an
