Terminology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 average diameterthe average of the maximum andminimum outside diameters, as determined at any one crosssec

16、tion of the pipe.3.1.2 nominal walla specified wall thickness with a plusor minus tolerance from the specified thickness.3.1.3 welded pipea round hollow produced by formingflat stock and joining the single longitudinal seam by welding,and produced to the particular dimensions commerciallyknown as pi

Chemical Composition4.1 In case of disagreement, the chemical composition shallbe determined in accordance with the following methods:UNS No. Prefixes ASTM MethodN02 E 39N04 E 76N06, N08 E 14734.2 The ladle analysis of the material shall conform to thechemical requirements prescrib

18、ed by the individual productspecification.4.3 The product (check) analysis of the material shall meetthe requirements for the ladle analysis within the tolerancelimits prescribed in Specification B 880.5. Test Requirements5.1 Flattening Test:5.1.1 A length of pipe not less than 4 in. (102 mm), shall

19、 beflattened under a load applied gradually at room temperatureuntil the distance between the platens is five times the wallthickness. The weld shall be positioned 90 from the directionof the applied flattening force.5.1.2 The flattened specimen shall not exhibit cracks.5.1.3 Superficial ruptures re

20、sulting from surface imperfec-tions shall not be a cause for rejection.5.2 Transverse Guided-Bend Weld Test:5.2.1 For welded pipe made with weld filler and at theoption of the manufacturer, the transverse guided bend weldtest may be substituted in lieu of the flattening test. Two bendtest specimens

21、shall be taken transversely from pipe or the testspecimens may be taken from a test plate of the same materialand heat as the pipe, which is attached to the end of thecylinder and welded as a prolongation of the pipe longitudinalseam. Except as provided in 5.2.2, one shall be subject to a faceguided

22、 bend test and a second to a root guided bend test. Onespecimen shall be bent with the inside surface of the pipeagainst the plunger and the other with the outside surface of thepipe against the plunger. Guided bend test specimens shall beprepared and tested in accordance with Section IX, Part QW,Pa

23、ragraph QW 160 of the ASME Boiler and Pressure VesselCode and shall be one of the types shown in QW 463.1 of thatcode.5.2.2 For wall thicknesses over38 in. (9.5 mm) but less than34 in. (19 mm) side bend tests may be made instead of the faceand root bend tests. For specified wall thicknesses34 in. an

24、dover, both specimens shall be subjected to the side bend tests.Side bend specimens shall be bent so that one of the sidesurfaces becomes the convex surface of the bend specimen.5.2.3 The bend test shall be acceptable if no cracks or otherdefects exceeding18 in. (3 mm) in any direction be present in

25、the weld metal or between the weld and the pipe or plate metalafter bending. Cracks which originate along the edges of thespecimen during testing, and that are less than14 in. (6.5 mm)measured in any direction shall not be considered.5.3 Pressure (Leak Test):5.3.1 Hydrostatic Each pipe shall be test

26、ed by the manu-facturer to an internal hydrostatic pressure of 1000 psi (6.9MPa) provided that the fiber stress, calculated from thefollowing equation, does not exceed the allowable fiber stressfor the material:P 5 2St/D (1)where:P = hydrostatic test pressure, psi (MPa),S = allowable fiber stress, f

(mm).5.3.1.1 The test pressure must be held for a minimum of5s.NOTE 1Testing at a pressure greater than 1000 psi may be performedupon agreement between the purchaser and manufacturer provided that theallowable fiber stress i

29、s not exceeded.5.3.2 Pneumatic (Air Underwater Test)Each pipe shall betested at a pressure of 150 psi (1.05 MPa). The test pressureshall be held for a minimum of 5 s. Visual examination is to bemade when the material is submerged and under pressure. Thefull length of pipe must be examined for leaks.

30、5.3.3 If any pipe shows leaks during hydrostatic or pneu-matic testing, it shall be rejected.5.4 Nondestructive Electric Test:5.4.1 Eddy Current TestingTesting shall be conducted inaccordance with Practices E 426 or E 571. The eddy currentexamination reference in this specification has the capabilit

31、y ofdetecting significant discontinuities, especially of the short,abrupt type.5.4.1.1 Unless otherwise specified by the purchaser, thecalibration standard shall contain, at the option of the manu-facturer, any one of the following discontinuities to establish aminimum sensitivity level for rejectio

32、n. The discontinuity shallbe placed in the weld if visible.5.4.1.2 Drill HoleA hole not larger than 0.031 in. (0.79mm) diameter shall be drilled radially and completely throughthe wall, care being taken to avoid distortion of the materialwhile drilling.5.4.1.3 Transverse Tangential NotchUsing a roun

33、d file ortool with a14 in. (6 mm) diameter, a notch shall be filed ormilled on the pipe outside diameter tangential to the surfaceand transverse to the longitudinal axis of the material. SaidB775022notch shall have a depth not exceeding 12.5 % of the specifiedwall thickness of the material, or 0.004

34、 in. (0.10 mm),whichever is greater.5.4.2 Ultrasonic TestingTesting shall be conducted inaccordance with Practice E 213. The ultrasonic examinationreferred to in this specification is intended to detect longitudi-nal discontinuities having a reflective area similar to or largerthan the calibration r

35、eference notches specified in 5.4.2.1. Theexamination may not detect circumferentially oriented imper-fections or short, deep defects.5.4.2.1 For ultrasonic testing, longitudinal calibrationnotches shall be machined on the outside and inside diametersurfaces. The depth of the notches shall not excee

36、d 12.5 % ofthe specified wall thickness or 0.004 in. (0.10 mm), whicheveris greater. The notch shall be placed in the weld, if visible.5.4.3 Calibration FrequencyThe frequency of calibrationchecks shall be as follows:5.4.3.1 At the beginning of each production run.5.4.3.2 At least every four hours d

37、uring testing.5.4.3.3 At the end of each production run.5.4.3.4 After any suspected equipment malfunction or workstoppage.5.4.3.5 If, during any check, the equipment fails to detectthe calibration defects, the instrument must be recalibrated andall material tested since the last satisfactory check s

38、hall beretested.5.4.4 Acceptance and RejectionMaterial producing a sig-nal equal to or greater than the calibration defect shall besubject to rejection.5.4.4.1 Test signals that are produced by imperfections thatcannot be identified or that are produced by cracks or crack-like imperfections shall re

39、sult in rejection of the pipe, subjectto rework and retest.5.4.4.2 If the imperfection is judged as not fit for use, thetube shall be rejected, but may be reconditioned and retestedproviding the wall thickness requirements are met. To beaccepted, retested material shall meet the original electric te

40、strequirements.5.4.4.3 If the imperfection is explored to the extent that itcan be identified, and the pipe is determined to be fit for use,the material may be accepted without further testing providingthe imperfection does not encroach on minimum wall thicknessrequirements.5.5 Tension Test Tension

41、testing shall be conducted inaccordance with Test Methods E 8.5.5.1 The material shall conform to the tensile propertiesprescribed in the individual product specification.5.6 Hardness Test Hardness testing shall be conducted inaccordance with Test Methods E 18.5.7 Grain SizeThe measurement of averag

42、e grain sizemay be carried out by the planimetric method, the comparisonmethod, or the intercept method described in Test MethodsE 112. In case of dispute, the “referee” method for determiningaverage grain size shall be the intercept method.5.8 For purposes of determining compliance with the speci-f

Dimensions and Permissible Variations6.1 Dimensions of pipe are shown in Table 1.6.1.1 Permissible variations in outside diameter and wallthickness are shown in T

45、able 2.6.2 LengthWhen material is ordered as cut-to-length, thelength shall conform to the permissible variations prescribed inTable 3. When material is ordered to random lengths, thelengths and variations shall be agreed upon between themanufacturer and purchaser.6.3 Straightness Material shall be

46、reasonably straight andfree of bends and kinks.6.4 EndsEnds shall be reasonably square and free fromburrs.7. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance7.1 The material shall be uniform in quality and temper,smooth, and free from imperfections that would render it unfitfor use.8. Sampling8.1 Lot Definition:

47、8.1.1 A lot for chemical analysis shall consist of one heat.8.1.2 A lot for all other testing shall consist of all materialfrom the same heat, nominal size (excepting length), andcondition (temper). When final heat treatment is in a batch-typefurnace, a lot shall include only those pipes of the same

48、 sizeand the same heat that are heat-treated in the same furnacecharge. When heat treatment is in a continuous furnace, a lotshall include all pipe of the same size and heat, heat-treated inthe same furnace at the same temperature, time at temperature,and furnace speed during one production run. At

49、no time shalla lot consist of more than 20 000 lb (9070 kg).8.1.2.1 Where material cannot be identified by heat, a lotshall consist of not more than 500 lb (227 kg) of material of thesame alloy in the same condition (temper) and nominal size(excepting length).NOTE 2For tension, hardness and flattening test requirements, theterm lot applies to all lengths prior to cutting.8.2 Test Material Selection:8.2.1 Chemical AnalysisRepresentative samples fromeach lot shall be taken during pouring or subsequent process-ing.8.2.2 Mechanical and Other PropertiesSamples
