Alloy A is intended for use in the fa
4、brication of dies for sheetmetal stamping under drop hammer and hydraulic pressure. Alloy B is a special purpose alloy of closely controlled compositionand is primarily used in the manufacture of plastic injection molds.1.3 This specification covers two zinc alloys which are specified and designated

Materials and Manufacture5.1 The alloys may be made by any approved process.5.2 The material covered by this specification shall be of uniform quality and shall be free from dross, slag, or other harmfulcontamination.5.3 Jumbo
18、 or block ingots shall conform to configuration shown in Specification B897, or to a shape and size previously agreedupon.5.4Material produced under this specification shall conform with the General Requirements of Specification B949, unlessotherwise noted in this specification.6. Chemical Requireme
19、nts6.1 LimitsThe alloy shall conform to the requirements as to chemical composition prescribed in Table 1. Conformance shallbe determined by the producer by analyzing samples taken at the time the ingots are made. If the producer has determined thechemical composition of the metal during the course
20、of manufacture, he shall not be required to sample and analyze the finishedproduct.6.2In case of dispute, the following requirements shall apply:6.2.1Number of SamplesSamples for verification of chemical composition shall be taken as follows:6.2.2If the ingots are shipped in carload lots of the same
21、 alloy, not less than five ingots shall be taken at random from the carloadfor sampling. If the shipment is less than a carload lot, one sample ingot shall be taken for each 10000 lb (4500 kg) or fractionthereof. When it is deemed necessary, a sample may be taken from each melt of 1000 lb (450 kg) o
22、r more.6.3Methods of SamplingSamples from ingots for determination of chemical composition shall be taken in accordance with oneof the following methods:6.3.1Samples for chemical analysis shall be taken from the material by drilling, sawing, milling, turning, or clipping arepresentative piece or pie
23、ces to obtain weight of prepared sample not less than 100 g. Sampling shall be in accordance withPractice E88.6.3.2By agreement, an optional method of sampling for analysis may be by melting together representative portions of each ingotselected, and then sampling the liquid composite by casting sui

Method of Chemical Analysis8.1 The determination of chemical composition shall be made in accordance with Test Methods E536, or ISO 3815-1, orISO 3815-2 or other methods. In case of dispute, the r
29、esults secured by Test Methods E536, or ISO 3815-1, or ISO 3815-2 shallbe the basis of acceptance.NOTE 1Test Methods E536 is not directly applicable to the alloys in Specification B793. ISO 3815-1 and ISO 3815-2 are generic methods appliedto zinc and zinc alloys. Each of the methods may be modified
30、and formatted for the alloy to be assayed. An experienced chemist, using suitable and/ortraceable standards along with valid quality assurance techniques, will be able to perform and validate the methods and demonstrate acceptable precisionand accuracy.7.Source Inspection7.1If the purchaser desires
31、that his representative inspect or witness the inspection and testing of the product prior to shipment,such agreement shall be made by the purchaser and producer or supplier as part of the contract or purchase order.7.2When such inspection or witness of inspection and testing is agreed upon, the pro
32、ducer or supplier shall afford the purchasersrepresentative all reasonable facilities to satisfy him that the product meets the requirements of this specification. Inspection andtests shall be conducted so there is no unnecessary interference with the producers operations.8.9. Rejection and Rehearin
33、g8.1Material that fails to conform to the requirements of this specification may be rejected. Rejection should be reported to theproducer or supplier promptly and in writing. In case of dissatisfaction with the results of the test, the producer or supplier maymake claim for a rehearing. If the rehea
34、ring establishes that the material does not conform to the requirements of this specification,as much of the rejected original material as possible shall be returned to the producer or supplier.9.Identification Marking9.1All ingots shall be properly marked for identification with the producers name
35、or brand.9.2Each bundle or skid shall be identified with the producers heat, lot, or other identification mark.9.3Each ingot, bundle or skid shall be marked with the appropriate Color Code for the alloy as per NorthAmerican requirementsin Practice B908.9.1 Claims to be considered in accordance with
36、the provisions of Specification B949, Section 8.10. Preparation for Delivery10.1PackagingUnless otherwise specified, the ingot shall be packaged to provide adequate protection during normal handlingand transportation. Each package shall contain only one alloy unless otherwise agreed upon. Investigat
