3、s “0” and H1X or H2X barecompact-round, compressed and conventional concentric-lay-stranded conductors made from round or shaped wires used ascovered or insulated electrical conductors. These conductorsshall be composed of a central core surrounded by one or morecompacted, compressed or conventional

Lay6.1 The length of lay for all classes sh

34、all be not less than 8nor more than 16 times the outside diameter of that layer,except that for conductors composed of 37 wires or more, thisrequirement shall apply only to the two outer layers. The lay ofthe layers other than the two outer layers shall be at the optionof the manufacturer, unless ot

35、herwise agreed upon.6.1.1 For conductors to be used in covered or insulatedwires or cables, the lay length of the wires shall be not less than8 nor more than 16 times the outer diameter of the finishedconductor. For conductors of 37 wires or more, this require-ment shall apply to the wires in the ou

36、ter two layers. The layof the layers other than the two outer layers shall be at theoption of the manufacturer, unless otherwise agreed upon.6.2 The direction of lay for Class A conductors shall beright-hand.6.3 The direction of lay of the outer layer shall be left-handfor all other classes, unless

37、the direction is specified otherwiseby the purchaser.6.4 The direction of lay shall be reversed in successivelayers in conventional and compressed constructions. In com-pact constructions, the lay of the successive layers may beeither reversed or unidirectional.6.4.1 For conductors to be used in cov

38、ered or insulatedwires or cables, the direction of lay of the outer layer shall beleft-hand and may be reversed or unidirectional or unilay insuccessive layers, unless otherwise agreed upon with thepurchaser.6.5 The maximum length of lay for compact conductorsAWG 2 and smaller shall be 17.5 times th

39、e outside diameter ofthat layer.6.6 Other lay requirements may be furnished by specialagreement between the manufacturer and the purchaser.7. Construction7.1 The construction of the conductors shall be as shown inTable 1 as to number of wires and cross-sectional area of thecompleted conductor, and t

40、he lay shall be in accordance withSection 6.7.2 Wire used in the fabrication of conductor shall be ofsuch dimensions as to produce a finished conductor having anominal cross-sectional area and diameter as prescribed inTable 1.7.3 Where compressed stranding is required in order toinsulate the conduct

41、or properly, one or more layers of anystranded conductor consisting of seven wires or more may beslightly compressed, thereby reducing the outside diameter ofthe conductor by not more than 3 %, provided that the area ofcross-section after compressing is in accordance with Section15.8. The minimum breakingstrength of bare conductors shall be not less than minimumrated strength if failure occurs in the free length at least 1 in.(25 mm) beyond the end of either gripping device, or shall benot less than 95 % of the minimum rated strength if failureoccurs inside, or within 1 in. of the end of either grippingdevice.
