Materials and Manufacture5.1 Structural components shall be made by cold pressing and sintering prealloyed powder.5.2 The sintering temperature is dependent on

16、the chemical composition of the powder.6. Chemical Composition6.1 The material shall conform to the composition limits specified in Table 1.6.2 Chemical analysis should be made in accordance with Test Methods E354, E572, E1019, and E1086.7. Physical Properties7.1 Density:7.1.1 The sintered density s

17、hall be 7.7 g/cm3 minimum.7.1.2 Density shall be determined in accordance with Test Method B311.8. Mechanical Properties8.1 The purchaser and manufacturer shall agree upon the method to be used to verify the typical yield or tensile strength in thefinished parts. The preferred method for verifying t

18、he tensile or yield strength is for the manufacturer and purchaser to agree upona qualification test to be performed on the actual part. The specific test should be determined after consideration of the functionof the part. An example would be measuring the force needed to break teeth off a gear, us

19、ing a prescribed fixture.8.2 The tensile properties of the material may also be verified using specifically prepared bars, compacted from the same mixedpowder lot as the purchased parts, and sintered along with the parts.8.3 Typical tensile values for 0.2 % offset yield strength, ultimate strength,

20、and percent elongation in 1-in. gage length foras-sintered standard flat unmachined tension test specimens for powder metallurgy (PM) products (see Test Methods E8) are inTable 2.9. Sampling10.1 Chemical AnalysisIf required by purchase agreement, at least one sample for chemical analysis shall be taken from eachlot. A representative sample of chips may be obtained by dry

24、-milling, drilling, or crushing at least two pieces without lubricationusing clean dry tools.10.2 Mechanical TestingIf required by the purchase agreement, the manufacturer and purchaser shall mutually agree on therepresentative number of specimens for mechanical testing from each lot. This number sh

25、all be based on good practice of statisticalquality control.11. Inspection11.1 Unless otherwise specified, inspection of components supplied on contract shall be made by the purchaser.12. Rejection and Rehearing12.1 Components that fail to conform to the requirements of this specification may be rej

26、ected. Rejection shall be reported tothe producer or supplier promptly and in writing. In case of dissatisfaction with test results, the producer or supplier may makea claim for rehearing.13. Certification13.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, a producers certification of compliance

27、document shall be reported tothe purchaser, verifying that the components manufactured were sampled, tested, and inspected in accordance with thisspecification and have met the requirements. When specified in the purchase order or contract, a report of test results shall befurnished.13.2 Certificati

28、on by an independent third party indicating conformance to the requirements of this specification may beconsidered upon the request of the purchaser.13.3 The purchase order or contract shall specify whether or not the certification includes a report of chemical analysis.14.
