Keywords18.1 aluminum electrical conductor; aluminum wire; elec-trical conductor; wire; heat-resistant wire; aluminum-zirconium wire; aluminum heat-resistant wireB941053EXPLANATORY NOTESNOTE 1Alot should comprise material taken from a product regularlymeeting th

、e requirements of this specification. Inspection of lots of lessthan 5000 lb 2500 kg of wire cannot be justified economically. For smalllots of less than 5000 lb 2500 kg the purchaser may agree to themanufacturers regular inspection of the product as a whole as evidence ofacceptability of such small

、 lots.NOTE 2Evidence of statistical control must be demonstrated. To dothis, control charts, as described in Part 3 of ASTMSTP 15DA4may beused, or process capability indices, Cpk, as described in ASTM B 830.NOTE 3The speed of testing can affect the results of the tensilestrength and elongation test.

、 In order to ensure uniformity in the testmethod and valid applicability of the test results to the conformancecriteria, it is recommended that the rate of separation of the heads of thetensile test machine not exceed 0.5 in. for each inch or 0.5 mm for eachmillimeter of length between grips per min

、ute.NOTE 4Resistivity units are based on the International AnnealedCopper Standard (IACS) adopted by IEC in 1913, which is l/58 V.mm2/mat 20C (68F) for 100 % conductivity. The value of 0.017241 V.mm2/mat 20C (68F) is the international equivalent of volume resistivity ofannealed copper equal to 100 % conductivity. A complete discussion ofthis subject is contained in NBS Handbook 100. The use of five significantfigures in expressing resistivity does not imply the need for greateraccuracy of measurement than that specified
