Scope*1.1 This specification covers packag

17、cturer and obtain assurance that the grout has asuccessful history of performance in the same or similarexposures.NOTE 1Since all conditions of use cannot be anticipated, this speci-fication requires nonshrink grout to exhibit no shrinkage when tested in alaboratory-controlled, moist-cured environme

18、nt, and requires only thereporting of the observed height change, usually shrinkage, when testspecimens are subjected to some degree of drying. It is suggested thatusers consult with manufacturers on specific applications to determine theapplicability of specific test results.5. Materials5.1 The mat

19、erials used as ingredients in packaged, dry,grout include hydraulic cement, fine aggregate, and otheringredients.6. Performance Requirements6.1 Specimens shall be made from freshly mixed grout andfrom grout that has been retained in the mixer for the maximumusable working time allowed by the manufac

20、turer. Specimensfrom both conditions shall meet the requirements prescribed inTable 1.6.2 Specimens shall be prepared using materials and equip-ment at temperatures representing the maximum and minimumusable temperatures specified by the manufacturer for hisproduct. Specimens from both conditions sh

21、all meet therequirements prescribed in Table 1, except that thecompressive-strength requirements do not have to be met atminimum usable temperature.6.3 Specimens for testing shall be prepared by combiningthe use of grout retained in the mixer as in 6.1 with theminimum and maximum as mixed and curing

22、 temperaturesused in 6.2. Specimens from these combinations of conditionsshall meet the requirements of Table 1, except that thecompressive-strength requirements do not have to be met atminimum usable temperature.6.4 All test specimens for performance evaluation shall beprepared using the highest wa

23、ter to solids ratio suggested bythe manufacturer for his product.7. Sampling7.1 Use whole packages of grout selected at random fromthe lot of grout to be examined.7.2 Where lesser quantities of grout will serve the purpose,select 3000 g 7 lb of dry grout from a whole package inaccordance with the me

24、chanical-splitter method in PracticeC 702. For high-density grouts, adjust the mass to provide anequivalent volume.8. Batching8.1 Grout mixtures shall be produced in the followingconditions:8.1.1 Batch grout mixtures at temperature conditions corre-sponding to the maximum recommended temperature lim

25、it andat a temperature corresponding to the minimum temperaturestated by the manufacturer.8.1.2 For standard temperature testing, maintain the groutmixture and the testing equipment at a temperature of 23 6 2C 73.5 6 3.5 F.8.2 Bring all materials and equipment to be used in prepar-ing test specimens

26、 to the specified test temperature, 6 3C6 5 F prior to use.8.2.1 When the controlled-environment test room is toosmall to accommodate large equipment, immediately prior touse, bring the mixer to the desired testing temperature by fillingit with water at the appropriate temperature and agitating it b

27、yturning the mixer on. When this water has stabilized at thedesired temperature, discard it and start preparing the batchimmediately.8.3 The manufacturer is not prohibited from including, inthe package instructions, procedures for adjusting the mixingwater temperature to achieve limitations imposed

28、on the groutuse temperatures. Use of this technique shall not abrogate theextended mixing time requirement of this specification.9. Proportioning9.1 The minimum and maximum amount of water recom-mended by the manufacturer on the package shall be used todetermine conformance with the requirements of

29、this specifi-cation. If the manufacturer provides maximum flow (thinnestconsistency) information on the package, conduct consistencytests to an accuracy of 65 % to determine the amount of waterto be added for testing. In either case, express the weight ofwater so determined as a ratio of water to dr

30、y grout material byweight. If both are given, make tests at whichever involves thelarger amount of water by ratio of dry grout mixture.10. Mixing10.1 Apparatus:10.1.1 Mixer for Preliminary AdjustmentsFor smallerquantities of grout, the mortar-mixing apparatus shall be asspecified in Practice C 305.

31、However, the mixer shall beprovided with a bowl positioner to enable clearance of thelargest sized aggregate in the mixture being tested.10.1.2 Mixer for Grout Performance QualificationsA90-L 3-ft3 capacity mortar mixer (Note 2) is required. Themixer shall be clean, pre-wetted, and drained and essen

The horizontal rev

34、olving blades arepreferred to have rubber tips that contact and wipe the sides of thestationary tub for the most efficient mixing. For greater safety, the mixershould be equipped with a lever-operated clutch. While these commentsare selected safety precautions, it is the users responsibility to see

35、that anyequipment in use is not hazardous in a physical or mechanical way tooperators and attendant personnel, and that safe work practices arerequired at all times.10.2 Mixing Procedure for Preliminary Adjustment:10.2.1 Use a 3000-g 7-lb sample to determine the consis-tency classification and to de

36、termine the water content of grouttested at a maximum flowability.10.2.2 For less than whole package amounts, weigh allgrout on a balance or on a platform scale to the nearest 0.1 %.10.2.3 Measure the water by mass or volume to the nearest0.1 %.10.2.4 Mix for 3 min, briefly stopping the mixer (not o

37、ver15 s) at 1 min to scrape into the batch any grout that may havecollected on the side of the bowl. Use other mixing proceduresif recommended by the manufacturer (Note 3).NOTE 3It is advisable to cover the bowl with a lid while mixing. Ametal disc in which a slit has been cut to accommodate the mix

38、er shaft hasbeen found suitable. If excessive splash-over occurs, a larger mixer shouldbe used.10.3 Procedure for Grout Performance Qualifications:10.3.1 Prepare all performance-qualification specimensfrom the batch of grout prepared as described herein. Performtests to verify compliance with perfor

39、mance requirements (seeNote 2).10.3.2 With materials and equipment brought to the testingtemperature, use enough whole bags of material to produce aminimum 56 L 2 ft3 of mixed grout. Use this batch for bothfreshly-mixed and delayed-mixed testing at one specifiedtemperature. Place the total required

40、amount of mixing water inthe mixer (Note 4). Use the weighed contents of the packagesto determine the amount of water added. Then, with the mixerrunning, add the grout material in a steady flow, sliding it intothe mixer along the side away from the discharge.After mixingfor 1 min, stop the mixer for

41、 not more than 30 s and scrapedown the sides and blades (see Note 2). Mix for 5 min after allthe dry grout has been added, unless otherwise recommendedby the manufacturer.NOTE 4Extensive lumping generally occurs during the procedure foradding grout and water. If it occurs repeatedly, try adding abou

42、t 80 % ofthe water, then add all of the grout. Add the remaining water after about1 min. If lumping persists, contact the grout manufacturer for recommen-dations.10.3.3 After completely mixing, discharge a portion of thematerial through a 9.5-mm 38-in. mesh screen into a clean,pre wet container. If

43、lumps or balls of partially mixed materialremain on the screen, reject the entire batch and start over.10.3.4 Leave the portion of grout to be tested later in themixer with the mixer running, unless otherwise recommendedby the manufacturer, for the period recommended by themanufacturer as the maximu

44、m usable working time.10.3.5 If the manufacturer requires other equipment or adifferent mixing procedure, or both, when using a particulargrout, they shall be used if adequately detailed in the manu-facturers instructions.11. Test Methods11.1 Consistency:11.1.1 Determine the consistency of the grout

45、 mixture inaccordance with Test Method C 827, Preparation of Mixtures,with the exception of temperature. To adjust for consistency,repeat the procedure starting with dry material. Do not addwater or dry material to an existing mixture.11.1.2 Determine the consistency with the required watercontent,

46、at the temperature extremes allowed by the manufac-turer, both with freshly mixed grout and grout mixed to themaximum allowed usable working time. The consistency at theend of the maximum allowed usable working time at each ofthe allowed temperature extremes shall remain within thespecified flow ran

47、ges.11.1.3 Do not adjust the water at extreme conditions unlessrecommended by the manufacturer. When water adjustment isrecommended, perform tests required by this specification toverify that the water-adjusted grout meets the requirements ofthis specification.11.2 YieldDetermine the yield of the gr
