For terminology specific to (1) clay masonry units;(2) concrete masonry units; (3) autoclaved aerated concretemasonry units; (4) roofing tile

8、units; and (5) masonry, seeTerminology C1232.3.2 Definitions:admixture, nsubstance other than the Specification C270prescribed materials of water, aggregate, and cementitiousmaterials that is added to a masonry mortar as an ingredientto improve one or more chemical or physical properties ofthe conve

9、ntional masonry mortar.aggregates, na granular mineral material such as naturalsand, manufactured sand, gravel, crushed stone, and aircooled blast furnace slag.cementitious material, nCommittee C12 standards for mor-tar and grout consider the following as cementitious mate-rials: Hydraulic cements,

10、pozzolans, hydrated lime, limeputty, and ground granulated blast furnance slag.DISCUSSIONHydraulic cements (such as portland cement, blendedcement, masonry cement, and mortar cement) react with water toharden and will do so under water. Pozzolans (such as coal fly ash, raw,or calcined natural pozzol

11、ans) react with lime in the presence ofmoisture. Hydrated lime and lime putty react with carbon dioxide fromthe air. Ground granulated blast furnance slag, blended cements, andsome pozzolans may exhibit both hydraulic and pozzolanic pressive strength, nthe maximum compressive loadwhich a specimen wi
