、Designation: C1229 94 (Reapproved 2015)Standard Test Method forDetermination of Glass Fiber Content in Glass FiberReinforced Concrete (GFRC) (Wash-Out Test)1This standard is issued under the fixed designation C1229; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adopt
、ion or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This test method covers determination of the fibercontent in an uncured,
、glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC)sample panel.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversions to SI units that are provided for information onlyand are not considered standard.1.3 This standard does not purport
、 to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use.2. Significance and Use4.1
、Glass fiber contents, determined by this test method, areuseful for quality control of GFRC products to ensure thatmanufacturing equipment has been set up to deliver the correctproportions of glass fiber reinforcement in a GFRC composite.5. When cutting out the test coupon, the sample panel shall have sufficient cohesiveness such that:(a) a c
、lean cut can be made without pulling out fibers from thetest coupon or the adjacent material, and (b) that material is notlost from the test coupon prior to determining mass.7.2 The test specimen shall be between 12 in.2(78 cm2) and16 in.2(103 cm2).8. Procedure8.1 Cut two test coupons with a razor k
、nife from a freshlyproduced, damp, uncured sample panel as done in PracticeC1228. Place the coupons in a mesh basket of known mass(W 1) and record the total mass (W2). The basket and contentsare held under a stream of running water and the composite isworked with fingers to break it up. Take care to

See Fig. 2.8.2 When all the cement and fine aggregate (if any) arewashed away, dry the basket and contents in an oven at 230 610F (110 6 10C), (or muffle furnace at 900 6 10F (483 610C) to a constant mass, as determined by taking threemeasurements at 10 min intervals.
