1、Designation: C1263 95 (Reapproved 2005)1Standard Test Method forThermal Integrity of Flexible Water Vapor Retarders1This standard is issued under the fixed designation C1263; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year
2、 of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1NOTEA units statement (1.2) was editorially added in March 2010.1. Scope1.1 This test method covers the visual determination
3、of thethermal integrity of flexible water vapor retarders for thosematerials classified under Specification C1136, including plas-tic, foil, or paper and composites of two or more of thesematerials to temperatures listed in the specification or purchasecontract. The vapor retarders are intended for
4、use at tempera-tures of 20 to 150F (29 to 66C). This test method does notcover mastics or barrier coatings applied in liquid form ormaterials intended for use as weather barriers.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical
5、conversions to SI units that are provided for information onlyand are not considered standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. 7、rms used in this testmethod will be found in Terminology C168.4. Significance and Use4.1 In many applications, the vapor retarders used on athermal insulation will be exposed to the temperatures listed in7.2. Cracking or delamination of the retarder under theseconditions would, in most cases, cause

(25 mm) Outside Diameter Solid, Mild SteelMandrel.5.2 Laboratory Oven, capable of maintaining 63F (2C)up to a temperature of 150F (66C).5.3 Laboratory Freezer, capable of maintaining 63F (2C)down to a temperature of 20F

Test Specimen6.1 From each sampled vapor retarder, test three 1 ft (305mm) square specimens for each temperature extreme specified.7. Procedure7.1 Condition test specimen at a
10、 temperature of 73.4 6 3F(23 6 2C) and a relative humidity of 50 6 2 % for a periodof 24 h.7.2 Expose the specimen and the mandrel to the testtemperatures of 20 and 150F (29 and 66C) for a period of4h.7.3 At the end of the exposure period, with specimen andmandrel at test temperatures, bend each spe

If the two surfaces of the testspecimen are materially different, six specimens shall be testedwith three specimens of each surface tested on the outside ofthe bend.NOTE 1When test conditions spec

If thelatter is so, the test specimen must be reconditioned before submitting itto the next test temperature.7.4 Immediately examine each specimen, while in the bentcondition, for any cracks or delamination.1This test method is under the jurisdiction ofASTM Committee C16 on Ther

16、TE 2Where multiple specimens are being examined, it is permis-sible to remove the tested specimen, while still in the bent condition, fromthe mandrel to allow for rapid reuse of the mandrel. The specimen mustbe restrained in the bent condition with paper clips or other suitable meansuntil it returns
