Scope1.1 This specification covers the composition, size, dimen-sions, and physical properties of flexible fiber

3、 glass blanket,ductwrap, used to externally insulate HVAC ducts used for thedistribution of condition air within the temperature range of35F (1.7C) and 250F (121C).1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversions to

4、SI units that are provided for information onlyand are not considered standard.1.3 When the installation and use of thermal insulationmaterials, accessories, and systems may pose safety and healthproblems, the manufacturer shall provide the user appropriatecurrent information regarding any known pro

5、blems associatedwith the recommended use of the companys products, andshall also recommend protective measures to be employed intheir safe utilization. The user shall establish appropriate safetyand health practices and determine the applicability of regula-tory requirements prior to use.1.4 The fol

Ordering Information5.1 Specific installation, insulation type, thermal resistance,thicknes

17、s, length, and width suited for the intended use shall bespecified by the purchaser.6. Materials and Manufacture6.1 Basic Material The basic material shall be fibersmade from glass processed from the molten state into fibrousform.6.2 Manufacture Insulation shall consist of bonded fibersformed into f

18、lexible blanket rolls with or without variousadhered facings.7. Physical Properties7.1 Thermal ResistanceThe material shall be tested at theout of package thickness and at the installed thickness for thethermal resistance at 75F (24C) mean temperature in accor-dance with 13.2. The installed thermal

19、resistance shall be testedwith the material compressed to 75 % of the labeled out ofpackage thickness. For each case the tested thermal resistance,R, for the average of any four randomly selected samples, shallnot be more than 5% below the label R-Values, when tested inaccordance with 13.2 nor shall

20、 any single specimen be morethan 10 % below the label R-Values4.NOTE 1Consult the local or state building codes for the minimuminstalled thermal resistance, R-value, required to be installed.NOTE 2To obtain the measured installed R-value during installation,the duct wrap insulation shall be cut to a

21、 stretch-out as indicated in TableX1.1 in Appendix X1.7.2 Surface Burning CharacteristicsTypes I, II, and III,when tested in accordance with 13.3, shall have a flame spreadindex not greater than 25, and smoke developed index notgreater than 50.7.3 Hot Surface PerformanceInsulation shall not flame,gl

22、ow, or smolder when tested in accordance with 13.4 at 250F(121C).7.4 Water Vapor PermeanceWhen tested in accordancewith 13.5, the vapor-retarder facing of a Type III product shallhave a vapor permeance of no more than 0.02 Perm beforelaminating to fiber glass. The vaporretarder facing of the TypeII

23、product shall have a vapor permeance of no more than 1.0Perm before laminating to fiber glass.7.5 Water Vapor SorptionThe water vapor sorption of theinsulation blanket shall be not more than 5 % by weight, whentested in accordance with 13.6.7.6 Odor Emission A detectable odor of strong objection-abl

24、e nature recorded by more than two of the five panelmembers shall constitute rejection of the product when testedin accordance with 13.7.7.7 Corrosiveness When tested in accordance with 13.8,the steel plates in contact with the insulation shall show nocorrosion greater than that observed for compara

25、tive plates incontact with sterile cotton.7.8 Fungi Resistance When tested in accordance with13.9, the test specimens that have growth greater than that onthe comparative items shall be considered to have failed. Testspecimens on which the growth is not greater than that on thecomparative items shal

26、l be considered to have passed.8. Dimensional Tolerances8.1 After conditioning for a minimum of 24 h at 70 6 3F(21 6 1.6C) and 50 6 5 % relative humidity, the insulationshall conform to the dimensional tolerances listed in Table 1.All measurements shall be made in accordance with 12.1.9. Sampling9.1

27、 Sampling of the insulation shall be in accordance withPractice C390. Specific provisions for sampling shall be agreedupon between the purchaser and the supplier.10. Inspection10.1 Inspection of the insulation shall be as agreed upon bythe purchaser and the manufacturer as part of the purchaseagreem

Qualification and Inspection Requirements11.1 Qualification RequirementsThe following require-ments are generally used for purposes of initial material orproduct qualification:11.1.1 Thermal resistance,11.1.2 Surface burning characteristics,11.1.3 Water vapor permeance, except for Type I mat

29、erial,11.1.4 Water vapor sorption,11.1.5 Odor emission,11.1.6 Corrosiveness, and11.1.7 Fungi resistance.11.2 InspectionThe following requirements are generallyused for purposes of acceptance sampling of lots or shipmentsof qualified thermal insulation:11.2.1 Dimensional tolerances, and11.2.2 Workman

30、ship.12. Workmanship and Finish12.1 Although all requirements for physical properties ofmaterials such as blankets are not easily defined or statednumerically, it is understood that the insulation will be essen-tially free of defects that adversely affect thermal performance,such as local compressed

Test Methods13.1 DimensionsTest in accordance with Test MethodC167.13.2 Thermal Resistan

33、ce:13.2.1 Test in accordance with Test Method C177 or TestMethod C518 at 75F (24C) mean temperature (see alsoPractice C1045). If the test is conducted using Test MethodC518, the manufacturer shall certify that recent calibrationshave been made.13.2.2 If the blanket is furnished with an adhered facin

34、g,carefully remove the facing to provide a surface equivalent tothe original surface that the blanket had before the applicationof the facing.13.3 Surface Burning CharacteristicsDetermine the sur-face burning characteristic for the composite material inaccordance with Test Method E84, and Practice E

35、2231. ForCanada, test in accordance with Test Method CAN/ULC-S102.When the referenced Canadian document in this specificationis referred to in applicable Canadian building codes, theeditions, referenced by those building codes, shall govern.13.4 Hot Surface PerformanceThe hot surface perfor-mance of

36、 the material shall be tested in accordance with TestMethod C411. Type II and III materials shall be tested with theinsulation blanket in contact with the hot plate.13.5 Water Vapor PermeanceTest the permeance of thefacing material in accordance with the Desiccant Method ofTest Method E96/E96M.13.6

37、Water Vapor SorptionDetermine the amount of watervapor sorption of the blanket test specimen in accordance withTest Method C1104/C1104M.13.7 Odor EmissionDetermine the odor emission in ac-cordance with Test Method C1304.13.8 CorrosivenessThe corrosiveness of the material shallbe determined in accord

38、ance with the steel portion of theCorrosiveness test method in Specification C665.13.9 Fungi ResistanceThe fungi resistance of the materialshall be determined in accordance with the Fungi Resistancetest method in Specification C1338.14. Rejection and Rehearing14.1 Materials that fail to conform to t

39、he requirements inthis specification shall constitute cause for rejection. Rejectionshall be reported to the manufacturer or seller promptly inwriting. The manufacturer and supplier have the right to verifyrejected products.15. Certification15.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, apro

40、ducers, suppliers, or independent third partys certificationshall be furnished to the purchaser indicating that the materialwas manufactured, sampled, tested, and inspected in accor-dance with this specification and has been found to meet therequirements.16. Product Marking16.1 Type II and III mater

41、ial shall be marked continuously,at intervals not greater than 36 in. (914 mm) apart, with thefollowing information: manufacturer, product name, surfaceburning characteristics, nominal thickness, nominal R-value,and installed R-value.17. Packaging and Package Marking17.1 PackagingUnless otherwise sp

42、ecified, the insulationshall be packaged in the manufacturers standard containers.17.2 Package Marking The markings shall be clear andlegible. Unless otherwise specified, each container shall bemarked with the manufacturers name, address, and telephonenumber; product name; material width; length; th

43、ickness;nominal R-value; installed R-value; and facing type, if a facingis employed.18.
