Scope*1.1 This specification covers the requirements for concretegrid paving units for vehicular trafficways, parking areas, soilstabilization,

3、and revetments. Maximum dimensions are 24long by 24 in. wide (610 by 610 mm), with a minimumnominal thickness of 318 in. (80 mm).NOTE 1When particular features are desired, such as weight classifi-cation, higher compressive strength, surface texture, finish, color, or otherspecial features, such pro

4、perties should be specified separately by thepurchaser. Materials4.1 Cementitious MaterialsMaterials shall conform to thefollowing applicable ASTM specifications:4.1.1 Portland CementsSpecification C 150.4.1.2 Modified Portland CementPortland cement con-forming to Specifica

12、ll conform to applicable ASTMstandards, or they shall be shown by test or experiencesatisfactory to the specifier and not to be detrimental to thedurability of the concrete grid paving unit or any materialcustomarily used in grid paving construction.5. Physical Requirements5.1 At the time of deliver

13、y to the work site, the units shallconform to the physical requirements prescribed in Table 1.5.2 DurabilityDurability shall be demonstrated by provenfield performance satisfactory to the specifier that the gridpaver units have adequate durability for the intended use.1This specification is under th

17、upplied to the purchaser, maintain the physical requirementsspecified in Table 1 after three years of use. The units used asthe basis for proven field performance shall have been exposedto the same general type of environment, temperature range,and traffic volume as is expected for the units supplie

18、d to thepurchaser.6. Permissible Variations in Dimensions6.1 Length or width of units shall not differ by more than618 in. (63.2 mm) from approved samples. Heights of unitsshall not differ by more than 618 in. (63.2 mm) from thespecified standard dimensions. Tests shall be performed asrequired in 7.

Sampling and Testing7.1 The purchaser or his authorized representative shall beaccorded proper facilities to inspect and sample the units at theplace of manufacture from lots ready for delivery.7.2 Sample and test units in accordance with Test MethodsC 140, except that the coupon method for det

20、ermining com-pressive strength shall not be used.8. Visual Inspection8.1 Units shall be free of defects that interfere with theproper placing of the unit or impair the strength or permanenceof the construction.9. Compliance9.1 If a sample fails to conform to the specified require-ments, the manufact

21、urer shall be permitted to remove unitsfrom the shipment. A new sample shall be selected by thepurchaser from remaining units from the shipment with asimilar configuration and dimension and tested at the expenseof the manufacturer. If the second sample meets the specifiedrequirements, the remaining

22、portion of the shipment repre-sented by the sample meets the specified requirements. If thesecond sample fails to meet the specified requirements, theremaining portion of the shipment represented by the samplefails to meet the specified requirements.NOTE 2Unless otherwise specified in the purchase o

23、rder, the costs oftests is typically borne as follows: (1) if the results of the tests show thatthe units do not conform to the requirements of this specification the costis typically borne by the seller; ( 2) if the results of the tests show that theunits conform to the specification requirements,
