3、 application of Class PB ExteriorInsulation and Finish Systems (EIFS) and EIFS with Drainage. Class PB EIFS are systems applied over insulation board, in whichthe base coat ranges from not less than 116 in. (1.6 mm) to 14 in. (6.4 mm) in dry thickness, depending upon the number ofnonmetallic reinfor

4、cing mesh layers encapsulated in the base coat (see Specification E2568). The base coat is then covered witha finish coat of varying thickness in a variety of textures and colors. EIFS with Drainage provides a mechanism to drain incidentalmoisture1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be r

The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.1.3 The text of this practice references notes and footnotes which provide explanatory material. 17、ed in this standard shall be in accordance with Terminologies C11 and E2110.4. Significance and Use4.1 This practice provides minimum requirements for the application of Class PB EIFS and EIFS with Drainage (seeSpecification E2568). The requirements for materials, mixtures, and details shall be cont

18、ained in the project plans andspecifications. See Guide E1825 for guidance.5. Delivery of Materials5.1 All materials shall be delivered in packages, containers, or bundles with the identification and markings intact.6. Inspection6.1 Inspection of the materials shall be agreed upon between the purcha

19、ser and the supplier as part of the purchase agreement.6.2 Inspection shall verify that the EIFS materials supplied are as required for the Class PB EIF System or EIFS with DrainageSystem specified. Mixing of EIFS materials from different manufacturers is not allowed.7. Rejection7.1 Materials that a

20、re damaged, frozen or in any way defective shall not be used. Rejection of materials shall be promptlyreported verbally to the manufacturer and immediately reported in writing. The notice of rejection shall contain a statementdocumenting the basis for material rejection.8. Certification8.1 When spec

21、ified in the contract documents, the producer shall furnish a report certifying that the materials are inconformance with product and material standards and contract documents.8.2 Insulation Boards:8.2.1 Insulation boards shall comply with Specification E2430.8.2.2 The insulation boards shall have b

22、een subjected to a third party quality control inspection and shall be marked as approvedfor use within the EIFS.8.2.3 Prior to installation, the insulation board shall be inspected for conformance with contract documents. Nonconforminginsulation board shall not be used.8.2.4 The insulation board ma

23、nufacturer shall furnish, for each shipment, a written certificate of conformance with the EIFSmanufacturers specifications.9. Storage of Materials9.1 All materials shall be kept dry by storage under cover and protected from the weather. When outside storage is required,materials shall be stacked of

24、f the ground, supported on a level platform and protected from the weather, surface contamination orphysical damage in accordance with the EIFS manufacturers written instructions.9.2 Materials shall be protected from exposure to direct sunlight and temperatures less than 40 F (4 C), unless otherwise

25、specified by the manufacturer.9.3 Portland Cement shall meet Specification C150 and shall be kept dry until ready for use. It shall be kept off the ground,under cover and away from damp walls and surfaces.9.4 Insulation board shall be stacked flat with care taken to avoid damage to edges, ends, or s

26、urfaces; or exposure to directsunlight (ultraviolet radiation).10. Environmental Conditions10.1 Cold Weather Conditions:10.1.1 Wet materials shall not be applied when the temperature is less than 40 F (4 C), unless otherwise specified by themanufacturer, unless temporary heat and enclosures are prov

27、ided to maintain minimum 40 F (4 C) for a minimum period of notless than 24 h before, during, and after application (see Annex A1.9.3).10.1.2 Materials shall not be applied to a base containing frost. Substrate surface temperature shall be not less than 40 F (4C). Mixtures for application shall not

28、contain any frozen ingredients.C1397 13211. Assessment of Condition of Substrates to Receive Water-Resistive Barrier Coating (if applicable) or ExteriorInsulation and Finish Systems or Both11.1 The substrate shall be as required by the project plans and specifications and as recommended by the EIFS

29、manufacturerfor the particular system specified.11.1.1 Insulation boards shall be as required by the EIFS manufacturers specification and in the thickness specified.11.2 The substrate shall be inspected by the applicator and general contractor to ensure that it meets the project plans andspecificati

30、ons and the requirements of 11.3 11.8.11.3 Sheathing materials shall be inspected to ensure that:11.3.1 The specified sheathing thickness has been installed for the stud spacing used.11.3.2 Fastener type and fastener spacing are as specified.11.3.3 All Specification C1396/C1396M gypsum sheathing boa

31、rds shall have a water-resistant core.11.3.4 Tongue and groove water-resistant treated core gypsum sheathing boards conforming to Specification C1396/C1396Mshall be installed with the tongue edge oriented to the top.11.3.5 Gypsum sheathing shall be installed in accordance with Specification C1280.11

32、.3.6 Gypsum sheathing shall be protected from moisture at all penetrations and terminations.11.3.7 Glass mat gypsum sheathing complying with Specification C1177/C1177M shall be installed in accordance with thesheathing manufacturers written installation instructions, which include details of framing

33、 type and spacing, fastener type andspacing, and sheathing orientation and spacing.11.3.8 Plywood shall be not less than 12 in. (12.7 mm) nominal in thickness, exterior or exposure 1 wood-based panel sheathing.The plywood shall be installed with a 18 in. (3.2 mm) space between sheets.11.3.9 Oriented

34、 Strand Board (OSB) shall be nominal 716 in. (11.1 mm) thick APA Exposure 1 rated.11.3.10 Fiber-cement sheets complying with Specification C1186, Type A, shall be installed in accordance with the sheetmanufacturers written installation instructions, which include details of stud type and spacing, fa

35、stener type and spacing, and sheetspacing recommendations.11.3.11 Water-resistant exterior fiber-reinforced gypsum sheathing complying with Specification C1278/C1278M shall beinstalled in accordance with the sheathing manufacturers written installation instructions, which include details of stud typ

36、e andspacing, fastener type and spacing, and sheathing orientation and spacing.11.3.12 Fiber-mat reinforced cement sheets complying with Specification C1325, type A, shall be installed in accordance withthe sheet manufacturers written installation instructions, which include details of framing type

37、and spacing, fastener type andspacing, and sheet orientation and spacing.11.3.13 Sheathing shall be continuous.11.4 AlignmentAll substrate surfaces shall be straight and true within 14 in. (6.4 mm) in 10 ft (3048 mm). More stringentrequirements by the EIFS manufacturer shall supersede the above stat

38、ed requirements.11.5 Suitability for UseThe substrate surface shall be firm, sound, and undamaged in order to receive the Water- ResistiveBarrier Coating or EIFS.11.5.1 Loose, spalling or crumbling concrete or masonry shall be removed by sandblasting or other appropriate means. If thesurface conditi

39、on of the substrate is at all in doubt, an alternative attachment surface or method shall be provided.11.5.2 Broken, cracked or delaminated substrate boards shall be replaced or restored to a condition equal to adjacent undamagedboards.11.5.3 All rotted, decayed, or delaminated wood and plywood shea

40、thing shall be replaced.11.5.4 Paper-faced gypsum sheathing that has been installed and exposed to the elements for more than 30 days shall be checkedat not less than two locations, or every 5000 ft2 (465 m2), whichever is greater, for integrity of the surface. The procedures forevaluating the gypsu

41、m sheathing are found in Annex A2.NOTE 1Gypsum sheathing conforming to Specification C1396/C1396M is sometimes not recommended for adhesive attachment by the gypsumsheathing manufacturer. Consult with the gypsum board manufacturer before use.11.6 CleanlinessThe surface of all substrates shall be cle

42、an and free from any foreign materials such as paint, form releaseagents, curing compounds, dust, dirt, frost, oil or grease, efflorescence and laitance that would affect the EIFS or EIFS withDrainage application.11.6.1 All sheathing board substrates shall have all loose dirt and dust removed by cle

43、aning methods appropriate for the job andjob conditions.11.6.2 Efflorescence and laitance on concrete, masonry, stucco or clay tile substrates shall be removed prior to EIFS application.Concrete masonry shall be cleaned by light sandblasting, pressure washing, or brushing. Heavy deposits shall be re

44、moved throughuse of hand or power impact tools followed by washing with an appropriate cleaner. Light deposits shall be removed by washingwith an appropriate cleaner. All loose particles and cleaner residue shall be removed by washing with clean, potable water. Thesurface shall be allowed to dry.C13

45、97 13311.6.3 Existing paint on concrete or masonry surfaces shall be removed by sandblasting or grit blasting. If removal of existingpaint is not practical, an alternate attachment surface or method shall be provided.11.7 Dryness:11.7.1 Newly constructed concrete or masonry surfaces shall be allowed

46、 to cure for a minimum of 28 days prior to applicationof the EIFS or EIFS with Drainage. Repaired areas on existing (aged) walls shall meet the same 28-day curing time.11.7.2 Sheathing must be dry prior to EIFS or EIFS with Drainage application.11.7.3 Substrate surfaces shall be free of visible wate

47、r.11.8 Metal LathIf metal lath is used, it shall be installed in conformance with Specification C1063, except lath edges shallbe butted, not lapped. Metal lath shall be 3.4 lb/yd2 (1.3 kg/m2) or 2.5 lb/yd2 (1.0 kg/m2), self furring or flat, G60 galvanized.11.8.1 Metal members shall be properly attac

48、hed, straight, and true unless required by the system design.11.8.2 Metal members shall be free of rust, oil, or other foreign matter or contaminants, which cause bond failure or unsightlydiscoloration.12. Water-Resistive Barrier (WRB) Coating (When Specified) (See Test Methods E2570)12.1 Manufactur

49、ers Recommended Joint Treatment (not required with concrete or masonry substrates)NOTE 2Joint treatment materials and methods differ among manufacturers. Some manufacturers use self-adhesive membrane tapes and others usefluid-applied flexible coatings with embedded reinforcing mesh or fabric.12.1.1 For sheathing substrates, apply manufacturers recommended treatment along all joints in sheathing, inside and outsidecorners, and exposed edges of sheathing at terminations in accordance with manufacturers recommended details .12.1.2 Center the treatme
